I am looking for a good child psychiatrist who specializes in working with kids with special needs. I have a 7 y/o son with DS and some behavioral issues and I think he may possibly be experiencing some depression, too. We see a really good developmental pediatrician for the behavioral issues and have just started with a behavioral therapist but I feel like there is still something else going on that the developmental pediatrician isn't addressing. We live in the Rockville area but could travel further to see somebody good. Thanks.

The term "mental retardation" has been replaced in federal statutes with the term "intellectual disability" per Congress's passage of Rosa's law in 2010 due to its negative connotation. Even though much of the general public is not aware of this change, those who have a child with special needs certainly are. Therefore, I am requesting that the code "MR" for "Mentally Retarded" be changed to "ID" for "Intellectually Disabled".

Can anybody recommend a good pediatric allergist in the Rockville area? I am looking for somebody for my 6-year-old.
