Happy Holidays,

Hi,

I know the children teachers of the French Academy very well. I've been there since they started the school. It's in complete immersion. My kids do the Saturday program, and we did one week of the summer camp: the mythology one. That was great. It's a small school, so you get to know the teachers and the director pretty well. You feel really taken care of.
It's worth checking.
Dear parents,

The French Academy in Chevy Chase offers a discount of $10 for the Christmas Workshop.

Good luck,

Next to their normal classes for children and teenagers, the French Academy DC offers in Chevy Chase a special class for teens who are already quite proficient in French. It's called "Philo et débats".

Basically it's a conversation class for teenagers between 13 and 18 who studied at least 3/4 years of French. They learn how to make a good oral presentation, how to structure and present ideas; and they debate about actual and philosophical issues. That seems pretty interesting for our older ones, who like to re-create the world!
The class will be held 4 Saturdays at 1:30-3:00pm
January 25th
February 22nd
March 29th
April 26th

Check the class schedule here:

PS: The founders of the French Academy DC are former teachers and staff of the French Alliance, who created their own school. Their concept: individual service, high quality classes.
If you want to expose your children as early as possible to a new language, check the classes for toddlers and young children at the French Academy. In complete immersion, the children engage in playful activities through songs, dance, stories, games, and more. They interact with new friends (puppets), parents / caregivers in French!

The plus:
Experienced native teachers who also offer pedagogical activities for fine motor skills.
French culture!
Classes in Chevy Chase (Saturday 9:00am) or Alexandria (Tuesday 9:00am)
Classes for older children, so the whole family can be learning at the same time.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to fro a quick note to tell you that registrations for Winter Classes at the French Academy are open. You'll find immersion classes for toddlers (1-3years old), children (4-7), older ones (8-13) and also classes for bilingual children (les P'tits francais) in Chevy Chase and Alexandria.
The kids are immersed in the language and interact in natural situations. The teachers use a child-oriented method with puppets, authentic material, songs and crafts. Parents also get resources for reinforcing the vocabulary at home and individualized tips and feedback. Great service!

If your child is struggling with French at school, book private lessons with one of their tutors. The French Academy is maybe not the cheapest on the market, but you will clearly have quality…

Have a great day
Megi

PS: don't miss the Christmas Workshop on December 14th at 1:30pm in Chevy Chase. The children will have 2 hours of story time, interactive games, baking fun in complete immersion.
If you are looking for a good enrichment program for your children, check the children classes at the French Academy DC.
The French Academy DC, MD, VA was created by former teachers of the Alliance Française and offer a wide range of immersion classes with experienced teachers.

Here are the classes offered in Chevy Chase:
- Les moineaux (12-36 months),
- Les poussins (3-5 years)
- Les Momes (6-8 years)
- Les grands (9-12 years)
- Les P'tits Francais (7-12 ans): pour enfants bilingues
- Thematic workshops such as Halloween, International-Day, Christmas.

Link to their children class schedule:

During the classes, your children will meet new friends (hand puppets) and will have a lot of fun. The teachers use authentic materials: children books, songs, TV programs, videos, plus a lot of interactive games and activities that make learning grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation very fun!
Since they are native speakers, the children learn the right pronunciation from the start. You don't want them to start speaking with a foreign accent and have difficulties to get rid of it later on. I personally like the approach. They don't use flash cards or vocabulary out of context but the really interact with the kids while playing.
