Who is this person? So many Netflix shows are based off of his books, but I’ve never heard of him. The acting is so bad. |
Harlan Coben is a bestselling author.
|
Is there a common director among them? If so that’s your answer. |
The movies aren't bad. |
The books are contrived thrillers with a gazillion plot twists. Since the characters exist mostly as vehicles for those plot twists, it’s hard for actors in service to the narratives to give convincing performances. I do like that they are adapting different books to various foreign locations with international casts. |
Most of them are horrible. |
The Five was good, The Stranger was decent, Safe was meh. |
This! |
I started Gone for Good last night and couldn't even get through the first episode, it was so terrible. |
He's kind of like James Patterson-lite. His books are bestsellers because they are consistent and not really deep reads, not because he's an amazing author. No hate to each one, though. I've read plenty of his books and a James Patterson book is always my preferred beach or pool book. |
Right. I was astonished when one of my favorite mystery editors flagged him as a favorite author. |
Because they're awesome and you have no taste? |
Win is a classic deus-ex-machina style character. Not awesome writing.
Potato chip? Sure. |
I enjoy reading his books as they are based in north Jersey and he is from our small town . Enjoy all the local references ![]() |
He’s British, no? Anyone watching Stay Close? |
