| Absurd mom we were in daycare with until just recently (they are now going into K at a different school and using different aftercare, thank God) posts this morning one of those over-the-top “We surprised our kids with Disney tickets” videos. Enjoy getting COVID right before school, and spreading it to others. You freaking morons. |

As long as it is allowed in the law & school rules - your wasting your breath.
That said - I’m also wasting my breath in this response

| Seriously. People had all summer to travel. Those who are doing it now are ruining school and putting kids’ health in serious jeopardy. |

I don't know and I also don't understand how so many families are planning fall travel right now. We are staying put and definitely in a wait and see mode with regards to travel during fall break or Thanksgiving. I know this might mean we will have fewer options, but I do not want to jeopardize school in any way right now. The most important thing for our well being right now is in person school without tons of Covid outbreaks. I don't understand why so many people are willing to risk that for a vacation... sure, you might have fun at Disney this weekend, but will it be fun to spend the next two weeks at home AND know you helped ensure a bunch of kids who didn't go to Disney had to do the same?
Think, people. |
| Who cares?! Disney World, a party in your neighborhood, there are many ways to be a covidiot, and a lot of them can be done in your zip code. |
An idiot co-worker was plastering photos of her family at Disney and Universal Studios for a full week. OH SHOCKER, her oldest has COVID now. Congrats. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. |
I don’t disagree, but where did you see me advocate for going to a block party or an indoor birthday party? |
Yes, but the people who are traveling right now and advertising it all over social media are likely among the worst offenders because they don't even seem worried enough to keep their idiocy quiet. It is exacerbating my sense that most people are being stupid and it's only a matter of time before the whole school has Covid. It also would have been nice to see some communication from our school or school district encouraging people to behave responsibly and to consider the school community when making choices for their family. I understand why they can't force people not to do this stuff, and I also know you don't always have control over it. My DH has been forced back into an office that does not require vaccination (and he knows for a fact many of his coworkers are unvaccinated) and which does not and will not require masks. It's an open plan office and there is not compelling reason for them to be in the office (they WFH for over a year with no problems at all) so the choice is absolutely baffling. But we don't have a choice in the matter -- he has registered his objection with his bosses and with HR and we'll se if anything comes of it. But it's a risk and we don't have a real option to not take it. In the same way that we don't really have an option to keep our child home -- we work and she needs to be in school or daycare, either way is a risk and we recognize that. So to see people flying around the country or even overseas, going to sporting events, malls, indoor restaurants, etc., throwing house parties and just generally acting like Covid doesn't exist is so stressful to us. We aren't doing any of that specifically because we have this inherent risk in our lives we can't control. It would be great if people could just pull back *a little*. |
True. I could've chosen my words better. I guess I should've said that it's been clear for 17 months now that there will always be enough irresponsible people to create hell for the rest of us. |
Most people who booked end of summer travel booked it back when Covid numbers looked great. No one knew the antivaxers were going to screw us all. I don’t judge the travelers. I’m thankfully I traveled in June, but that was just luck. |
Haha yes. But that’s why I don’t post any travel except to my narrow circle of friends - don’t want to be attacked by any crazies! |
| MYOB |
| People are so selfish. This week is off season at the beach so I know tons of people who are away now since it’s a ton cheaper than going in July or early August. |
| Because the rhetoric since Feb 2020 has been to not travel and just wait a little while to see what happens. |
Well you are clearly superior and more virtuous. Duh. |
