Nirvana 'Nevermind' album baby sues for being exploited as a minor

He's suing the estate of Kurt Cobain for 2.5 million in damages, claiming exploitation as a child, and "trafficked" his image, saying his parents never gave their release in writing.

Sick money grab obviously

Seems odd that the record label didn’t get the parents to sign a release.

I’ve always thought it was kind of awful they put that on the cover. I wouldn’t want the world seeing a picture of me naked when I was a baby. If my mom has given permission I wouldn’t think it’s better, I would just resent my mom for it.

2.5 million is pretty steep though.

I love how he recreates the shot in the article. Clearly, he’s traumatized 🙄

There was a contract and his dad got paid. His dad obviously consented. End of story on that front.

Now if you want to argue that ethically they should have covered his genitals…sure, that’s a different story.

Recreated it several times over the years, too!

I wouldn’t mind if the world saw me naked as a baby. Especially if it was on an iconic album cover.

Right, to each their own, but an infant can’t exactly make that choice.

But the parents gave consent. If anything, the man should be suing his parents.

But the parents likely don't have 2.5 million, and this is clearly a money grab.

Yeah I still wouldn’t have wanted my naked baby picture distributed the world over even if my mom said it was okay; like I said, I think 2.5 million is a lot and I would be mad at my mom. I’m guessing this guy is mad at his mom (assuming she gave permission)

Honestly I've always thought that album cover was exploitative.

He just wants some money fell it. They should settle and give him some. He made the best argument he could.

Dude probably carries it around with him wherever he goes.

Yeah it’s using somebody’s naked image without their consent to be edgy. There are worse things in the world but they should have just chosen a different cover.
