There are rumors after rumors for many months. Just for the benefit of trap players, I hope ECNL can start some transition plans soon.

This is losing steam fast already and is not a major priority. Top ECNL clubs, teams and players are bailing in this area and likely will be the same in other areas. In the next year the youth soccer landscape is going to be very different and ECNL will have to readjust in different ways if they want to stay relevant.

Name a top 25 nationally ranked girls club leaving for GA? It’s bad business for any girls club to leave ECNL. Unless the GA can convince a majority of the top ECNL clubs to join.

You are an idiot. You are completely forgetting the fact that boys side exists.

GA gets scouts both college and YNT… moving the boys to MLSN and having the girls in GA ( a thriving league) is a smart move.

I did not forget about the boys side, my point just had nothing to do with them.

I didn’t say GA was a bad league either?

My point still remains it’s bad business for a club to leave ECNL for GA. Unless you’re from a place that doesn’t have rival high quality ECNL clubs around.

How is it a bad move though?

The boys side will generate almost double its revenue

And the girls side still get seen by college coaches.

A bad club is a bad club no matter the league. Do you think Wisconsin FC ECNL is putting more kids in college or Pro than IMG GA?

Again my argument isn’t GA is bad. GA has plenty of talented teams and players who are just as good or better than ECNL teams and players.

I just don’t think the average boys club switching from ECNL to MLSN would bring in so much more money that it’s worth it for their girls side.

If a club can roster 18 for games and charge $4K per player what does it matter what league you’re in? The fact there is more boys playing means a clubs bottom line is safe as long as they full roster spots.

It’s just a gamble for the girls is all I’m saying. I don’t think most ECNL families see GA as a good thing.

You will know ECNL plan after the meeting. Based on their track record and MLS/GA's recent aggressive tactics, you can be assured ECNL will have a very bold move that shocks everyone. I think it will be more than the early transition to SY for all NL/RL teams.

I’d be careful.. if if they go through with that and they displace players, they may piss off enough parents…

They are adding GA2 league. GA will have relegation league. I think they are merging with some other league.

Of course parents will be pissed their kids are getting moved off the top team. If they aren’t being moved from the top team they won’t be mad.

But for every kid lost is another gained so it all evens out.

DPL supported the change from BY to SY. Die that mean GA will too?

The club will not break the team. They will get capable Q3/Q4 and increase the roster from 18 to 25. So the clubs actually will make more money.

I hope you are correct. They can’t just sit by and let everyone else make moves and wait a whole year to go SY, it would be such a waste and could very well cost them!

If it has pro/rel, which is team-based, not club-based, it will be an interesting concept to challenge ECNL.

I don't think ECNL will wait a year doing nothing while MLS/GA continues to build the moat. We will soon know what their plan will be. It will be a bold plan as GA will have a pro/rel league.
