| Last year I found a wad of cash worth hundreds of dollars on the ground in plain sight on a busy evening at Lewinsville Park. I asked around and no one claimed it. I contacted police through their website and no one responded. I emailed two sports recreation directors with no luck. I asked one to mention it in our next soccer email (they were already sending out lengthy emails at least 3x per week) but surprisingly that person declined. I guess I could have done more. It’s still sitting around. I don’t want to actually spend it. Guess I’ll give it away or donate it charity. Anyway, just thought I would share that. |

You tried to find out where it came from. No one claimed it because its probably nefarious. If whoever it was intended for/belonged to knew you had it they would have already remedied the problem.
Wish this would happen to me....
|
| It's mine! |
| Finders keepers. You made a good faith effort to turn the money over. It's yours. If it makes you uncomfortable, perhaps you can donate it to a food pantry or make a pan handler's day? |
| I once found 4 20 dollar bills near a gas pump at 6am. I picked that cash up and stuffed it in my pocket. I gave half to my mil and used the rest to buy pizza for my family. |
Well, actually..... |

I think donating it to charity sounds like great idea. It’s possible no one came forward b/c the money may be connected to “less than legal” activities.
For a timely charity, you could consider, “No One Left Behind” It’s a non-profit that helps provide emergency financial aid, employment opportunities, and used vehicles to former Afghan and Iraqi interpreters (allies who risked all to work with US troop.) https://nooneleft.org/ |
| I always donate found money to charity. It's not yours, and you need to pay it forward. I tend to use it either to buy diapers for the DC Diaper Bank, or shove it in an envelope and mail it to a food bank. |
Yes to this. I imagine it might be from someone who gets paid in cash (a nanny or housekeeper) but hope they got it back somehow in some other way) |
How much money are you always finding? |
| Donate |

My bet is:
- nefarious or - parent team manager collecting for the season lost it and didn't want to tell the other parents they were irresponsible so they bit it and paid for it themselves. So McLean! |
My thoughts exactly.
|
Hahahah! |
McLean collects electronically not via cash. So no. |
