How much money are you always finding?

Np but some people have eyes trained for this and often find it. My kid is that way.

No, you have to bring it personally to the police station and report it lost.

OP here. I guess I was discouraged when our soccer director didn’t even care to add it to their email chock full of all kinds of miscellaneous and and not very important announcements.

Also I may be naive but I didn’t think it was drug related. This place was teeming with kids. In my mind it may have belonged to a super rich kid who doesn’t even know it’s gone. Or since NFL QB Alex Smith has been spotted there maybe he lost a little pocket change.

I once found like $80 or $100 in cash. I picked it up and then donated the equivalent amount to charity. Didn’t want the bad karma.

You should have actually called the Police. Trying on a website and no one contacting you is not a good faith effort. I mean I would for $20-$50….. but hundreds I woulda have. That’s life impacting. I think you could have claimed it after a certain length of time passed. At this point you should donate it.

Yes I missed that opportunity. I was a bit lazy and just trying to keep up with everything else going on. I will pay it forward in some manner that is meaningful.

I agree, OP. It's kind of mind-boggling you don't have your priorities straight. All you needed to do was call police, and follow their directions. Please remember next time.

But why didn’t you call the police? Wouldn’t that be the first reaction of anyone? If I lost a chunk of money I’d check with the local police first to see if anyone had turned it in.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's not your problem the money was left in plain sight. Maybe the owner dropped it on purpose because they were about to get arrested, and it was drug money or something.

If you're interested in donating the money, consider charities that pay veterinary bills for senior citizens. Their pets are precious to them, but vet bills are often more than they can handle.

Once the kids clear out, its likely a meetup for drug handoffs. Not unusual even in LP/McLean. Normal people dont roll around with that much cash unless its in a wallet or money clip.

I recently found a wallet on the pavement in a local park. Full of credit cards, DL, honestly can’t remember if there was cash. Immediately called
FXCO Police and was given the option of either taking it to a precinct or waiting for an officer on patrol to meet me.
In the midst of Covid, I stayed where I was and after a 1/2 hour, an officer arrived to collect the wallet.

Ah that's where it went. That was bribe money for the refs. Keep it, I will write it off as a business expense.

Donate it and also it’s possible person just has no idea they dropped it at the time or ever after.

Finding a wallet or purse or a bill fold is different than a wad of cash. How can you people disparage the poster especially since he / she said she will give it away. Drug money 99% of the time
