I saw an interesting point on this last evening. The person said that the GOP knows internally that a blue wave is coming in 2026, so delaying the massive cuts to happen until after that point will help the GOP because Dems will be in power when they go into effect and the GOP can stand back and say, "Look what the Dems did! We had things perfect and they effed it up again!" That will ensure public anger with the Dems and props up the GOP to win the 2028 Presidential election.

I thought that was an interesting take and one I can totally see happening. There have been stories that have come out about how worried the GOP is internally with how the public is turning on Trump, including many of his voters. They were already worried about midterms and that's one of the reasons why they stopped doing town halls as well.

Not a chance of this happening. The egregious actions inflicted by this administration will not be forgotten. Everything prior to this bill and what’s to come will result in a midterm bloodbath.

The house still has procedural and substantive power to disrupt the bastardized bill. They could reject the Senate's version and demand further changes. They can obstruct legislation, demand recorded votes on procedural motions and amendments, toss in some irrelevant amendments, and delay conference committees. They should disrupt and delay!

Trump threatening Senate and House Rep seats is such an amateurish play. Double down on TACO.

Normal People are already horrified by ice’s actions. It’s going to get a lot worse when they get billions more for building up their gestapo and all the new facilities this will fund.

This has been years in the making. With the help of FOX, the Republicans have patiently built up to where we are at now. The Democrats made it easy-peasy to get to this point by falling out of touch with the average middle-class citizen who wants a good job, quality housing and reliable, affordable healthcare. The above is exactly what they wanted, and it's only beginning with ICE. Follow the money. It's not about illegal immigration and gays and transgender people and Communism and the war on Christmas and whatever other enemy or threats against American culture were conjured up, it's about a transfer of wealth to the billionaire class and forcing everyone to get in line with making it happen. The new facilities are not only for illegal immigrants rounded up by ICE.

Eh- stop Dem blaming. It is so much easier to tear things down than build them. That is all Trump/MAGA wants to do: tear things down, so it is really easy to do.

Right now the power in charge is Stephen Miller, next will be Project 2025. This admin is like a hydra where you have to defeat one head at a time. That isn’t because of dems. It is because Trump is a power vacuum and that attracts evil.

Mega Trump build nothing. They could not even build a wall. They just destroy things for personal gain. easy and weak.

What tax year does this apply to? 2025 or 2026?

A deduction in name only. Don’t most middle and working class people benefit more from taking the standard deduction than itemizing after T’s last tax restructuring?

Saw a quick hallway interview with Murkowski on the news last night. She sounded as dumb as we always knew she was. How does she keep getting elected?

I am probably cynical, but I agree with the top poster that I see this happening. Actions will be forgotten. We have short memories, and the average person listens to what is in front of them but doesn’t connect it with past events.

We are not getting any of these things anymore.

We've already spent millions of dollars on services, research and facilities which have all been gutted.

Yes, this is effectively a tax deduction for those with enough mortgage interest to exceed the standard deduction. And for this class of earner, the interest on a car loan is miniscule on the tax filing. This is all BS marketing.

One of the things the dems failed to realize is how gullible stupid ppl are.

Dems vote party lines. Reps vote party lines. She's normal, not bad or evil.

The ones who don't vote party lines, they're the ones who are hated by everyone in both parties.

She knows how bad this bill is, articulated how bad this bill is and voted for it anyhow. That isn't normal.

She actually punted to the House and told them to fix it before it gets sent back. Nobody is taking responsibility beyond the MAGA crazies.

Why should rural hospitals get a bailout while the ones most of the country uses get screwed?

+1

This is the problem, not Murkowski. (Or Tillis or Hawley or or or).
