DC residents don't have a vote in the House or Senate. Heck, if I were the GOP, I would exempt DC residents from federal taxation and turn it into Hong Kong. |
If the bill goes to conference, it will die, because Americans are finally waking up to how bad this bill is for the country. |
They'll cave. LaLota has already said he's a Yes. The rest of the SALT caucus will fall in line. Spartz is a Known to Fold-er. Massie is of course a No. Roy might pitch a fit, Biggs and Harris are KTFs as well. So, yes, there'll be a few amendments to save face (and they are in session, so need not take town halls) but they'll pass it. |
Not a chance of this happening. The egregious actions inflicted by this administration will not be forgotten. Everything prior to this bill and what’s to come will result in a midterm bloodbath. The house still has procedural and substantive power to disrupt the bastardized bill. They could reject the Senate's version and demand further changes. They can obstruct legislation, demand recorded votes on procedural motions and amendments, toss in some irrelevant amendments, and delay conference committees. They should disrupt and delay! Trump threatening Senate and House Rep seats is such an amateurish play. Double down on TACO. |
Normal People are already horrified by ice’s actions. It’s going to get a lot worse when they get billions more for building up their gestapo and all the new facilities this will fund. |
Wait Murkowski trusts Republican House members to do anything besides cave to Trump their lord and savior? That’s not very smart. |
Yep. There'll be a little performative noise from the "Freedom Caucus," but it'll pass the House with 1 vote exactly. |
$175 billion! Alligator Alcatraz! Trump loves these short quips and alliterations. Today he traveled to the proposed site. All media hype and childish banter. “I looked outside and that’s not a place I want to go hiking anytime soon.” Like he’s ever hiked in his life except walking up the ramp to Air Force 1. “We’re going to teach them how to run away from an alligator if they escape prison. Don’t run in a straight line.” |
We paid for satellites to give us weather information. We paid for FEMA to be at the ready in case of natural disaster. We paid for an FDA to ensure we have safe food and drugs. we paid for an EPA to ensure we had clean air and water.
We are not getting any of these things anymore. |
This has been years in the making. With the help of FOX, the Republicans have patiently built up to where we are at now. The Democrats made it easy-peasy to get to this point by falling out of touch with the average middle-class citizen who wants a good job, quality housing and reliable, affordable healthcare. The above is exactly what they wanted, and it's only beginning with ICE. Follow the money. It's not about illegal immigration and gays and transgender people and Communism and the war on Christmas and whatever other enemy or threats against American culture were conjured up, it's about a transfer of wealth to the billionaire class and forcing everyone to get in line with making it happen. The new facilities are not only for illegal immigrants rounded up by ICE. |
Susan Collins proposed an amendment for higher taxes on the wealthy to fund rural hospitals. Democrats voted no. |
Let's support people, patients, children... Let's give them access to health insurance. We don't need to be directly funding the medical industrial complex fat cats. Lets support the people with access to health insurance. That will indirectly support the medical industrial complex. |
Get your head out of the sand. This is what everyone said after Jan. 6, right? That Americans wouldn’t forget that Trump tried to overturn an election. Then he became a convicted felon. People voted for him anyway. Too many people in this country will believe whatever they are fed by the right wing media and Dems have not found a way to counter this properly. People keep citing the polls of how unpopular this bill is but too many aren’t paying attention and don’t understand what is in the bill to begin with. They’ll be easy to fool again. |
Eh- stop Dem blaming. It is so much easier to tear things down than build them. That is all Trump/MAGA wants to do: tear things down, so it is really easy to do. Right now the power in charge is Stephen Miller, next will be Project 2025. This admin is like a hydra where you have to defeat one head at a time. That isn’t because of dems. It is because Trump is a power vacuum and that attracts evil. |
She’s such a hypocrite. As long as Alaska gets some special carve outs screw everyone else. |
