Can ANYONE make a cogent argument for why AIPAC (and any organization like it) is allowed to exist and operate on U.S. soil? What’s the argument for?

Lobbying with money is an inherent part of the US political system. If you have issues with that, then US style democracy is not for you.
For the vast majority of Jewish American's love for Israel is a part of their religion/identity. They use the existing political structure of lobbying to achieve their singular goal of loving and funding Israel.....

That goal is fine for those people, for that special interest. Makes sense. But then why persist with the pretense that U.S. foreign policy is based on anything other than who spends the most to buy the most influential of the political elite? I mean, that’s essentially the argument you’re making …

The ROI on those donations to AIPAC must be astronomical … no wonder Jewish Americans don’t just route their $$$ directly to Israel! $70 - $80M to have control over that much foreign aid and influence in Congress and the U.N.? Wow, that is the best money ever spent!

Ashkenazi Jews have the highest IQ of any ethnic group in the world. Since 1950, 29 percent of Nobel Prizes have been awarded to Ashkenazi Jews, who represent 0.25 percent of the global population.

Do you want a cookie for that?

America's destiny cannot be shackled to that of Israel.

Good for them.

When will AIPAC’s 1,600 lobbyists be arrested?

I dunno…at this point it feels like maybe they bribed the Nobel prize committee the same way they are bribing American politicians, I mean who is to argue otherwise . Get over yourself, plenty of super smart people in all races/ethnicities.

How? AIPAC members are amongst the wealthiest in this country.

Crippling tax laws for organizations like AIPAC? Why not? Lobbying in furtherance of a foreign entity SHOULD BE criminalized with harsh penalties, but if not, why wouldn’t crippling taxes imposed on the donor and the recipient organization do the trick?

We don’t want to enable foreign entities to influence U.S. policy, and certainly not from our soil. In order to rein it in, taxes.

Voila. Next?

So, wait a minute. You must also be against any group lobbying for Ukraine aid, correct?
DP

ABSOLUTELY! That was the first qualification made - and all similar organizations! No foreign country or governmental agency / entity should be allowed to lobby on U.S. soil (either directly or through an org like AIPAC), and U.S. officials who accept $$$ from them should be prosecuted aggressively.

We have enough $$$ in federal government payroll that these boobs should be able to competently formulate foreign policy (based on U.S. interests only!) without allowing to also accept a pile of $100.00 bills folded into an origami colossus every quarter.

I mean, I know you had an agenda in thinking you had a gotcha! moment there, but please read what’s written before seeing boogeyman where there are none.

If this money goes away which of your goals will be achieved?

Hopefully, peaceful coexistence will follow foreign policy that isn’t so destructive. That’s my only goal.

I’m not here for annihilation or whatever other machinations you try to impose on the agenda of others. Peace. That’s all.

And if you belong to a group that cannot find your way to peaceful coexistence with those around you, maybe you need to look inward?

Going forward, I’m going to assume every person wearing a mask is Hamas.

Obviously. People who project bogeymen to control others need a masked villain to play the role, right?

I haven’t read the entire thread, may have already been said, here is what will happen:

Protests continue through summer
Chicago Dem convention is a repeat of 68
Riots and violence lead to Trump presidency
Trump is elected and provides just as much if not more support to Israel

Oh well peace is a choice and Palestinians can be peaceful even if they don't have what they want. So too bad.

Peaceful coexistence in status quo sounds fine. That is what AIPAC seeks to achieve. Nothing immoral about that. Your not liking this is a problem is is a circumstance

Support for Israel came from the top via lobby groups.
In contrast, Ukraine had the popular support.
