USC and Columbia Protests

Not only do they discredit the students, they also threaten administrators who do not suppress. Some administrators yield and call for arrest of students.

American democracy is undermined by wealthy interest groups.

They don't want to be black listed by employers like Ackman did to earlier protesters.

No chance Trump will behave like Biden. He will support Israel at first and then he will flip seeing yuge crowd around the countries protesting genocide.

But here’s the rub: I expect more from a Democratic President than Trump. We’ve all heard the phrase “single issue voter” by now. I think that is because there is no candidate that stands for a majority of our views so we need to pick our single issue. For me it was abortion rights but with Roe overturned I really don’t see how Trump makes this worse. So now I am weighing same sex marriage versus unwavering support of the war machine that kill thousands. I’m as left wing as they come but it’s a hard choice.

If there are Biden campaign staffers who lurk these boards (there should be!) I hope you are cognizant of this vote. Having your guy ignore this sentiment that the US funding killing of others is not a good idea.

How? AIPAC members are amongst the wealthiest in this country.

Crippling tax laws for organizations like AIPAC? Why not? Lobbying in furtherance of a foreign entity SHOULD BE criminalized with harsh penalties, but if not, why wouldn’t crippling taxes imposed on the donor and the recipient organization do the trick?

We don’t want to enable foreign entities to influence U.S. policy, and certainly not from our soil. In order to rein it in, taxes.

Voila. Next?

So, wait a minute. You must also be against any group lobbying for Ukraine aid, correct?

ABSOLUTELY! That was the first qualification made - and all similar organizations! No foreign country or governmental agency / entity should be allowed to lobby on U.S. soil (either directly or through an org like AIPAC), and U.S. officials who accept $$$ from them should be prosecuted aggressively.

We have enough $$$ in federal government payroll that these boobs should be able to competently formulate foreign policy (based on U.S. interests only!) without allowing to also accept a pile of $100.00 bills folded into an origami colossus every quarter.

I mean, I know you had an agenda in thinking you had a gotcha! moment there, but please read what’s written before seeing boogeyman where there are none.

If this money goes away which of your goals will be achieved?

Hopefully, peaceful coexistence will follow foreign policy that isn’t so destructive. That’s my only goal.

I’m not here for annihilation or whatever other machinations you try to impose on the agenda of others. Peace. That’s all.

And if you belong to a group that cannot find your way to peaceful coexistence with those around you, maybe you need to look inward?

Peaceful coexistence in status quo sounds fine. That is what AIPAC seeks to achieve. Nothing immoral about that. Your not liking this is a problem is is a circumstance

Sometimes people misinterpret problems that will inevitably lead to change as mere circumstance. And sometimes change that occurs without compromise and participation from all sides leads to very unfortunate shifts in fortune.

That’s what Israel and her supporters face. They can agree to compromise and be part of the design of what peaceful coexistence looks like moving forward. Or they can be recalcitrant and take their chances that the fortunes for Israel and the pro-Israel crowd in the future won’t be much less pleasant than what they enjoy today.

Yes if only Biden would listen to the people and change his support for Israel. Before he was elected he promised to hold the Saudis accountable. Now he thinks he can solve the Palestinians issue by making a deal with the Saudis to recognize Israel while not doing anything to address the Palestinians issue. Bet That does not work and leads to more unintentional consequences.

Though he is lot like LBJ in the Ukraine with his slowly introducing weapon systems and his out dated views on Israel.

The design based on who's design and preferences? Do you realize saying Israel do what we want you to so because we want it. That is your argument? This is what the protestors are doing--expecting all to do what they want because they yell and disrupt. Why do you consider stating preferences, yelling, and disrupting, as power? It is not.

Why does he need to listen to some "people"? This set of people, sometimes in life we hear "no", said or implied.
It seems that Palestinians and their supporters do not know what the word "no" means. They have been begging for 80 years, and the answer has been "no". Maybe others just don't want what you want. All that is left is for you to war so go for that.

Whether it is power or not it certainly got someone spooked. Calling for a university president to resign shows how afraid they are.

That doesn't show that they are afraid. The calls show that they realize the president is letting her school be taken advantage of and letting her students be bullied (all students, not just Jews)--if I were a student I would not want to all day, day after day have groups of people yelling in my face telling me what I must do and think. Thst is harassment.

Related, why don't we all just break social norms. Let us all go around, in large groups, disrupting meetings, classes, transit, telling people what we want. I hate the plastic bag bans. I am going to disrupt everything to share this. I hate how the lack of proper elder care in our country, a disgrace. Why don't I form a group and storm all press conferences, movie premiers, award shows.

Unpredictable things happen in war. Begging in concentration camps, begging in Gaza. Sounds like you’re willing to take those chances.
