MCPS Coming Back, Better Than Ever

Anonymous
This email was sent to parents who pulled their kids during the pandemic. Haven’t seen it posted here yet. What are they investing billions in? (The link was broken in the email)

Hello from Montgomery County Public Schools

Our records indicate that your child withdrew from MCPS last year during the COVID-19 pandemic. We recognize that the COVID-19 pandemic was a unique challenge for children. This fall, MCPS is recommitting to student support, wellness and success.

We are writing to invite you back into our MCPS family to continue your child’s learning journey.

Our school buildings will be open for full-time, in-person instruction for all students. We are investing thousands of hours and billions of dollars to make this school year better than ever. You can learn more about our fall plans at ( ).

To re-enroll your child in MCPS, call your local school or visit the MCPS website for more enrollment information https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/info/enroll/#steps

Tell us if you are coming back https://mcpsweb.wufoo.com/forms/we-want-to-welcome-you-back-to-mcps/

With what?
I’ve got kids in both public and private so not sure where I fall, but I don’t understand pitting them against each other. From either side, I am rooting for fully in person school next year.

I've been happily schooling my kids in MCPS for 11 years, but I'm not a fan of emo, feel-good, wishy-washy, touchy-feely communications. Those go in the trash. I didn't receive this particular one, but I receive way too many along the same lines... If only they spent that energy and money into actual academics, now

with... "MCPS is the worst school district ever, and I'm so glad we put our kids in private. MCPS has gone far down the toilet. Too little too late". That' usually what's posted by private school parents still reading the MCPS school forum.

+1 million

A waste of time and resources.

Focus on academics, MCPS.

I have moved a child to private. I don’t feel like this at all. I think MCPS has a lot to offer. Private happens to work better for our particular student at this point, but we still recommend MCPS.

No distancing, no quarantine with exposure, no nothing... school as normal. Humm... what could go wrong especially with kids under 12. That video makes me want to remove my kids.

+2 million. Those videos are a waste of resources and pointless. It is not reassuring about safety with the Delta variant.

I pulled out last year for 3rd and got this email. I think it’s BS. We are not private school people but we are doing private. I don’t trust MCPS at this point.

That makes you private school people, doesn't it?

You know, it’s interesting that MCPS is choosing to spend money on these types of marketing emails. Almost like they’re ‘recruiting’ videos. Why does MCPS care if students leave? I have no idea why MCPS is spending money on convincing parents to stick with MCPS, but they are.

Which tells me that all of the posters like this PP who say ‘Good riddance’ to the families who want to go private are full of crap. MCPS, at least, doesn’t want too many families to leave. Must be a reason for that.
