Interior painting cost

We got a quote for 2500 SF of interior painting (3BR/3BA house). Quote is for premium paint (BM Regal or similar). Walls (2 coats), ceilings, and window trims.
It came in at $22K. That's really high, right?

We paid that much >10 years ago - but the painters were through my interior designer. The painting was top notch and worth it

I’d shop around. Sounds a bit high it not stratospheric. Can they copy the color formula and use another paint brand?

Sounds high but also how quickly can you get them in? I live down south. Got 3 estimates for my whole house (much less then that.) They were pretty close but I ended up paying more for the team that could start the asap (within 2 weeks) One company was booked for 4-6 months out.

Our 1200 sq ft place cost around $6000 (Benjamin Moore Regal Select).

Giving this a bump. Has anyone had their house painted lately? Can you share square footage and cost (and company if you were happy with the work.)

OP is getting raped. unless they have an insane amount of extremely intricate trim work.

Walls, ceilings, doors and trim for your average 2500 sqf sfh home should be about 6k-8k.

My brother owns a painting company in Arlington

I think the windows could be a big factor here. Are we talking the windows themselves (muntins etc) and maybe if that includes a lot of prep scraping off old paint and stuff that could raise the price. Ditto prep of trim, major drywall work, etc.

Ridiculous. How long will it take? A week? Do you think their time is worth $20k for a week?

Not high. We got two separate quotes to paint just the interior doors and trim (28 doors), no walls. One quote was $14K, one was $12K. So your $22K sounds about right for the current world we're living in.

My parents just paid 700 for labor only on about 700 sf. (Their downstairs plus the stairwell and hallway.) And they bought five gallons of Ben Moore paint for $300 or something like that. So that’s $1000/700 sf. So over 20k for 2500 sf seems INSANELY high.

My handyman (immigrant, has a company, pays taxes) did our entire home for 5 k for labor. 3 days. 3 men + him. He paid each 300 per day. I paid for all the material which came to a few thousand. We did not have insane amount of color combos and the whole house was coordinated so it all looked very good plus there was economy of scale with limited number of colors. Ceilings were painted too.

What did he do? My DH is asthamatic, so I wanted minimal dust. Every room got sealed in plastic sheets. Every furniture got removed or covered. They worked 1 or 2 rooms at a time because I was recovering from an illness and was bedridden. I could not abide total chaos of any home improvement. We were still carrying on with all the chores of daily living. My walls were not in a bad shape so minimal repair was needed so there was not any dust.

My cleaning lady and her helper also worked the whole time and I paid her $400 per day for the two of them. She helped to empty out things like closets and dressers and then put it back again. She cleaned after these guys cleaned up every day so that my whole house was clean. She was also responsible for making coffee and tea for everyone and she got food (fast food) for everyone as we were providing breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner.
They put primer, two coats of paint and all the moldings and trims were wiped and hand-painted. These guys worked like fiends and left the house immaculate. Oh, they also wiped all the windows and skylights that were high up because for my double story foyer and family room, they rented out scaffolding. All in all - a superior, flawless job was done for under 10K. House is 3500Sqft. 3 levels.
