Best sleeper sofas for picky in-laws 😬

Has anyone gotten a sleeper sofa that is actually comfortable? We need one for a bonus room that my MIL, in particular, will use when she visits. Are they all crap? Links/recommendations appreciated. I do not want to spend more than $1,200 on this.

They aren’t even comfortable for my 7 year old. No adult should have to sleep on a sleeper sofa.

I know this isn't the question you asked, but...we have been down this road and could not find a sleeper sofa that was truly comfortable as both a sofa and a bed.

You may consider a traditional futon and getting a good mattress and a topper: https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/red-barrel-studio-leavittsburg-queen-86-wide-futon-and-mattress-w002949482.html?cjevent=65c669feddb911eb81ae03dc0a82b82a&refID=CJ1772040-CJ4522830&PID=CJ7876406&clickid=65c669feddb911eb81ae03dc0a82b82a&cjdata=MXxOfDB8WXww

We have found that they are much better for sleeping than a sleeper sofa, where the mattress by design is flimsy and foldable.

Thanks. I just hate how futons look.

Really? Even just for short visits?

None are comfortable.
What another one of those that pull down from the wall? I think they are called Murphy beds.

Really, yes. Even for one night.

Agreed, this item does not exist.

Have you considered an airbed with a pop up metal frame? If you add a memory foam topper, they are pretty comfortable imo. You need somewhere to store it though (a closet, an attic, etc). It folds down into a bag with wheels but even the twin is pretty big.

The Ikea Freithan is not too bad if you put a queen foam topper on it and then make it up. It does not sag or have springs, just flat and hard.

Our Article one is very comfy, but is only a full size.

I think a couch is more comfortable than a sleeper sofa extension. Why not get a daybed for the room?

It’s called a daybed…

I will research it. Thanks.

There is an Israeli brand Aminah, or something like that. We bought it in Brooklyn, NYC years ago. No one ever complained, including our in-laws. Those sofa beds are bulky, though.
