New principals

Two new principals appointed today:

Also, the current principals at Wyngate and Montgomery Village were appointed to director positions, so those schools need new principals now too:

They appointed a whole slew of senior people today. Don’t know much about any of them. Looks like one isn’t from MCPS which is unusual.

Which one isn’t from MCPS? I am glad MCPS is looking beyond their tainted water cooler for talent. That’s the only way improvement will happen.

Wasn’t Kimberly Statham appointed from outside MCPS? That certainly worked out great.

Congrats to Ms. Carr! She did a great job as AP at Rock Creek Valley. That school is lucky to have her.

Any update on the RM principal? At the parent meeting in June, the statement (by MCPS guy) said a new principal would be starting 7/13. It was going to be a very fast-moving process.

BOE last met on 6/29 and next meets on 7/15, so I don't even see how the new person can begin prior to the 15th.

I'm expectng RM, Northwest, and Churchill will all have new principals named on the 15th.

They will all be announced at the BOE meeting this week.

Mcps supports the principals who have no support for teachers. I think they should do away with the ones who have no spine don't have a hard line against violence in the classroom. I encourage teachers to leave the profession when they find out districts like mcps tie your hands to inflate the grades and keep gangsters in the class to create chaos.

Well, ok then.

Another perspective is that they are most interested in supporting their own careers, which means jumping through whatever hoops MCPS Central Office team sends their way. It is unfortunate that they do not look out for their teachers and staff, or their students, which should be the most important parts of their jobs. But that is MCPS for you.

My kid is at RICA. Do you know if the new principal will also be named on 7/15?

I don't know, but given the timing, it's likely that every principal vacancy will be filled this week with either a new principal or an acting principal for the year.
