When does the TJ waitlist start to move?

Right away?

Acceptances are due July 7. I guess if someone declines before then, they might fill that spot as soon as it opens. But you will know for sure after July 7.

I guess they might not fill that spot as soon as it opens. They will consolidate Acceptances and rejections, class sizes based on subjects in second week of July and then move the waitlist .. this year waitlist is tooo big.

I’ve heard in past years it was not right away. But this year the decisions came out SO late that it might be sooner.

If someone rejects their offer, do students from the same school replace them from the waitlist? Or is there some kind of ranking based on how good the applications were.

Most likely, students of the same (non-Asian) race will replace them. But officially, yes, from the same school until they fulfill each school’s quota.

If your kid made courses selection at base school during 8th grade second semester, even though all honors , all As ... waitlisted..

Sometime after July 7th - kids from the same school MS will be filling that declined slot. The ratio must remain constant.

There will be schools that do not reach their quota. When that happens, they'll move to the unallocated waitlist. This is where you'll see a lot of the movement towards Carson and Longfellow.

In past years they only made one pass through the waitlist. If your kid is on the waitlist and you know they won’t go at this point (for example because you committed to private school already), please take them off the waitlist ASAP. Let the spot go to someone else!

It is public information that TJ admissions will be reaching back into the waitlist for the entire summer in an attempt to remain at 550 students for the Class of 2025.

That said, it is good practice to remove your child from the waitlist if you aren't planning on sending them. Don't be that crappy family that compares when your kid was accepted to when someone else was.

It’s possible. But it will be incremental when it happens. I wouldn’t hold your breath.
