APS & streaming CCPTA meetings?

Are ccpta meetings open for general membership to attend? Are they streamed?

I don't know if they stream the meetings; but anyone can attend. However, it is not a public meeting in that people from the public have an opportunity to speak or comment or vote on anything. They can observe only.

If you are a PTA member in APS you are paying dues to the CCPTA.

Seems like they should be more open - the APS executive leadership frequently attends and presents.

The meeting minutes are adopted at the following month’s meeting and should be posted online after that. Did you check? Not sure about whether agendas are posted online but you can ask your school’s PTA Pres and/or CCPTA Rep because they should have that info. The June meetings usually focus on trainings for new PTA officers.

I can't seem to find any agendas posted? That is kind of weird. Agendas only go to PTA presidents?

If Dr Duran is presenting that would be useful for PTA members to know.

This. Every school has a CCPTA rep (sometime it's another PTA officer, sometimes a separate role) and that person should be reporting back to their PTA to share info or gather feedback to pass on to the CCPTA.

Isn't it strange that the minutes do not show who attended? Are most schools noshows?

When it was in person, they definitely took attendance. Not sure if that was reflected in the minutes. Our PTA only counts the number of people present, it doesn’t list them in the minutes.

As responses have indicated, they are welcomed to attend. But it's the PTA that is the dues-paying member of CCPTA. Individual school parents pay dues to their individual school's PTA, not to CCPTA. They appoint - or should appoint - a CCPTA representative to be their voice. The problem is, most CCPTA reps don't actually report back to their PTAs and most PTAs don't really care enough to devote time in their meetings to CCPTA business/news. School PTAs are too focused on fundraising and doing more and more for their school, rather than tending to the advocacy PTAs are supposed to be doing.

So don't criticize CCPTA. Criticize your PTA and if you think they should be more engaged at the CCPTA level, then push them to become more engaged and volunteer to be their rep.

In addition to "being welcome", the CCPTA should openly publish agendas and meeting details. Everyone who pays dues to their PTA is funding the CCPTA (and VAPTA/National PTA).

I'm sure plenty of people would have liked to have known in advance that Kadera sucked up all CCPTA resources this past year to work on her pet project instead of the pandemic...
