Nine months out- can’t lost baby weight

Anonymous
I gained thirty pounds with this pregnancy, lost about 15 pounds right away, but ate poorly when baby was a newborn (constantly hungry, etc) and gained it all back. For the last two months, baby has been sleeping through the night (finally) and I have been eating really well, tracking all my food/calories, and exercising 3-5 times a week, plus getting at least 10,000 steps daily. I’ve been so consistent and I’m so frustrated that the scale hasn’t moved at all. And this isn’t a case of muscle replacing fat- my clothes don’t fit any better, either. Anyone BTDT? Any advice?

I didn’t lose my baby weight until I weaned for my first kid, but she was also a terrible sleeper so I didn’t make much of an effort until she was close to a year, anyway. Is that just my fate?

Same. Hormones affect different women differently.

I always have to sweat and starve it off for months to get any results while breastfeeding.

Sleeping or not sleeping didn’t make a difference for me.

Yes I am still BFing. Was worried this might be the case.

PP, it’s not that I think sleeping will help me lose weight, more that when baby STTN I’m able to also sleep and am more motivated to eat healthy and workout.

Yeah, it’s the nursing. Don’t worry about the weight until you wean. You need to eat enough calories to stay healthy - otherwise you’ll be trading weight for other health problems.

Cant spell lose either huh?

Another vote that it’s nursing. Darwin says that nursing moms should hold onto a few or many pounds just in case.

My 3rd baby is 4 months old and I started Noom. I’ve cut a lot of calories (mostly junk food honestly) and am eating better but the scale will NOT budge. It’s like my body refuses to give up the pounds: “no we might need that to make milk!!!”

I don’t think that the advantage to your 9 month old from BM, surpass the disadvantage to your body of 30 extra lbs.

I lost all baby weight while nursing so I don’t relate, but I was watching what I ate, etc.

If I were you I would cut calories or stop nursing TBH

+1 If you are still breastfeeding, that's what it is.

It took until my kid was 3 to lose all of it. It was like my body would not let go.
