put a bike short under little girl's dress?

My 2 year old is going to daycare, and she has many cute dress. She is still in diaper, should I put a bike short under her dress or not. Does bike short make her more uncomfortable in hot summer with diaper underneath?

With the diaper, I'd say it's up to you.

Once my daughter moved to underwear, I bought little shorts (not the longer style ones) for her to wear so that she can go down slides and hang on the monkey bars, even if she's wearing a dress.

We do this with dd since she was around 1.5. Helps when she plays around, sits on swing, goes down slide (hot metal and plastic!). I think it is helpful. She did not complain about diaper being too hot.

I used to dance and would wear bike shorts under my dresses. It was actually more comfortable.

I always do bike shorts/capris/leggings under dresses, depending on the weather for my 2- year old daughter.

Yes, we always used the Lands End ones and they were great. DD wore them until she was like 9 and stopped wearing dresses.

I do - it may be slightly hotter, but i think its more comfy for them.

They make shorts specifically for this purpose (called, hot pants, I think). The only reason I mention it is that they are significantly cheaper than standard bike shorts and are usually sold in packs of 4-6.

First, nobody wants to see your kid's dirty sagging diaper. Second, and more importantly, it protects her from burning the back of her legs on hot play equipment/outdoor seating. Third, you really need to once she's potty trained because you don't want her undies gaping and showing her privates, so you may as well get her the habit now.

I don't think OP said the kid *needs* to wear a dress. Personally my 2 year old asks for dresses because she likes mine. I wear them because they are comfortable.
