So you’re saying we’re top 5 in the entire nation? Come on, man (Biden voice) |
| We do not produce the top talent because coaches don't know how to develop talent. It is all about recruitment and assembling most athletic kids on one team. |
| do your research. Several girls and boys have gone far and are still going. We have several international players. Quite a few kids going to the national id clinics, top college recruits. |
| Our top talent is priced out of travel soccer. The DMV produces the best basketball players in the country. More MD and DC than VA. Imagine If those kids played soccer consistently against each other growing up. That would raise the talent level x10 |
Not true. |
Pathetic suggestion |
| DC United has three young homegrown players - Donovan Pine, Kevin Paredes, Griffin Yow. Jacob Greene has a contract, but hasn't played yet. |
| Forgot Moses Neyman. |
| I think a big part of it is the decentralized system, with a million unconnected leagues. The top players often don't play the other top players, and there is no incentive to develop versus poaching talent. This is why our ECNL teams get crushed by the NC and SC teams. Those are mega-clubs where the cream rises to the top, and all of the area's talent is playing together. |
| It’s a function of who lives in those regions more than anything else. How strong is the soccer culture? DC has a long tradition and culture of basketball for sure. I don’t know about DC as a soccer culture, certainly nothing like southern CA. Other than that national team players is such a small sample size it’s hard to make any clear connection |
+1. |
| Too many UMC kids playing. Need to diversify talent. |
You are not watching if you think this. This is not the case at all. |
UMC? |
