Brazen home break in the morning with people home and car stolen in mclean, va, many other car theft

What is going on?

Car Theft. Two of our cars were stolen and one ransacked through between 4:30 and 6 AM right from our driveway. The cars unfortunately were accidentally left unlocked.

Home invasion and vehicle stolen!! BEWARE! HOME INVASION AND BURGLARY IN MCLEAN! At 5AM this morning 2 men violently broke into our home through the front door after three failed attempts. Our home security cameras caught the entire burglary. Per the video footage, the men were in our home for over 5 minutes! One member of our home awoke to see the men inside and the men panicked and ran out of the home and stole one of our vehicles, along with the keys to all our other vehicles!! We are terrified that this could happen in Mclean! We’ve seen countless videos from local ring cameras showing similar vehicle break-ins and attempted burglaries in the recent months, but we’re still shocked that this has now occurred in our home. Please be careful and make sure your home is secure – unfortunately, we are not as safe here as we believe.

This will stop when the commonwealth attorneys start prosecuting. You will notice we hardly ever had anything like this happen when VA was tough. They’d hold everyone without bail, so the DC criminals went to MD. Now that there is no punishment in VA it’s open season. The police did just catch four juveniles after a car jacking at pentagon city. The article didn’t say if they were held or not. If not, they will be back on the streets doing the same thing.

This knee jerk reaction, regardless of the facts is very tiresome. Yes, easy and basic precautions can help avoid these outcomes. It did not in this case and we should not have to live constantly on guard.

Did you watch the ring video? The guys spent almost a minute breaking down the homeowner's door as the sun was coming up and the family was home.

McLean was hit over Christmas last year with car break-ins near downtown.

I'm guessing they took this from what the home owner posted on Nextdoor which is where I saw it. Not PP, but the homeowner also linked video. Pretty scary, the sun was rising and the kids breaking in were relentless. They could have been seen by anyone walking their dog, driving by, etc .
