Jen Hatmaker

during the height of my Hatmaker fangirl phase which is probaby around 2014 before she really got big on social media even then I would never have wanted to go on a cruise with her or any celebrity person. It seems so weird to me.

Is that you, David Sedaris, ghost writing on this forum as Jane Capstitcher? We know you met her and even sent her a postcard that she posted on IG.
Funny, funny stuff!

Legacy Collective is closing.
Anonymous
It is with heavy but also grateful hearts, we share that Legacy Collective will be closing its doors just shy of its 10-year mark. As you might imagine, this decision was made with thoughtfulness, data, outside consulting services, and deep care.
Legacy donors combined their generosity to give grants toward foster reform, anti-racism work, clean water, eldercare, LGBTQIA+ teen initiatives, sustainable housing for the unhoused, BIPOC communities, human trafficking survivors and far more, to say nothing of relief funds raised. Its scope is rare and impactful. This is to be absolutely celebrated, not mourned.
Sometimes beautiful things end. Legacy served its purpose with great honor. The legacy of Legacy will be that we loved our global community well. This community has changed lives and systems and organizations. What a success story. In its almost decade of existence, Legacy Collective has raised $8.2 million and given 250+ grants to 150+ nonprofits covering 25+ cause areas across 5 continents, 21 countries, and 28 states.
All of our active donors received emails earlier this morning notifying them about their donations and specific giving circle.
For donors who want to maintain their monthly giving rhythm, we can’t recommend enough transferring your recurring donation to two of our final grant recipients and some of our giving circles that will continue on their own. I'll post those in the comments.
Givers give, and giving matters more than ever.
We want to thank every Board member, Advisory Board Member, grant partner, donor, volunteer, family and friend who has been part of this journey. There is no end to the ways you have individually supported this staff, organization, and work. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
It has been an honor serving with you, and Legacy Collective will remain one of the highlights of our entire lives.
With immense gratitude,
Jen & Erin

The grift wasn't worth the squeeze.

I’ve always thought this was a grift too. I know people disagree but that organization needed to be audited. Remember, it was started under Brandon. We all know how he spent his money and Jen admits she knew nothing about the money.

I read a lot. A lot. And Jane’s posts are the best things I’ve read lately.

If you are not already a published writer, I’d be shocked.

The Hatmaker empire is crumbling down. First The Legacy Collective.

Then it'll be ANC. One of the main pastors had to leave staff a few weeks ago. No, not Pastor Hat. The other one.

When will Jen downsize from the Buda house, as her roommates likely aren't paying rent and now no tax write off for LC get togethers in the backyard.

I wonder how much the consultant charged them before telling them to close up shop?

Was this decision made with the same amount of effort that Jen and Brandon supposedly exerted when deciding that the church made in their image was to diverge from Christianity? Without consulting anyone?

"Deep care" makes me chuckle. Jen was 8 espresso shots in when she penned this.
