Well if you go to a city and spend your time exclusively at the two main tourist attractions, yeah, it is likely to be disappointing. We went over Christmas last year and really enjoyed the winter weather, the huge old oak tree at the Alamo, the delicious Mexican food, and 6 Flags Fiesta. If I had more time I would have explored the Hill Country, tried more restaurants, and done a long bike ride along the extended Riverwalk to see the Missions. |
| OBX is a tourist trap. |
| Las Vegas and mexico. |
| Dallas hot and boring. |
I like Hatteras Island. It’s still a tourist area, but much quieter and less kitsch. |
I think you’re projecting. Or maybe haven’t taken your meds today if you think you can guess where people are posting from. |
Agree. I'm there for work a lot. Boring and the food is not great. Not even the BBQ. |
| I really dislike Atlanta. |
Never been, other than connecting at the airport. I group Atlanta with Houston and Dallas- huge cities that I have no desire to ever visit. |
+1 OBX is terrible for so many reasons. Terrible. |
| USA |
I've visited all three and find this accurate. No desire to return to any of them. |
What happened in Batbados? |
The food does suck. I’ve had to spend time there over the last few months and I don’t understand why. |
What part of OBX? I find most that hate OBX are those that go to the Nags Head/Kitty Hawk area. Some like that area, but others are turned off by how much the area has been built up- lots of mediocre restaurants, mini-golf, gift shops...etc. We love the southern Outer Banks- Hatteras Island. It's not for everybody, but a much different experience than Nags Head. We don't go as much as we used to. The greedy real estate companies have priced us out. Home rentals are more and more expensive, and the logistics of schlepping all of your stuff there is a bit of work. It's easier and cheaper to just fly somewhere, but still love the area. Instead of renting a house for a week, we now just usually go down for long weekends in the off-season. |
