I find most that hate OBX are those that go to the Nags Head/Kitty Hawk area. Some like that area, but others are turned off by how much the area has been built up- lots of mediocre restaurants, mini-golf, gift shops...etc. We love the southern Outer Banks- Hatteras Island. It's not for everybody, but a much different experience than Nags Head. We don't go as much as we used to. The greedy real estate companies have priced us out. Home rentals are more and more expensive, and the logistics of schlepping all of your stuff there is a bit of work. It's easier and cheaper to just fly somewhere, but still love the area. Instead of renting a house for a week, we now just usually go down for long weekends in the off-season.[/quote]
