Very informative post. Thank you. |
My pleasure, thank you for those kind words. I spent a lot of time thinking about what to write and how to express my empathy for the victims. It's always gratifying to know that someone appreciates your work. Have a lovely day... |
Studies do not back up your claim. Stings cause problems to taxpayers, increase crime not decrease it, put police in an unethical position, reduce privacy, cause havoc on families involved, and reduce the workforce thus decreasing the economy. The sex stings are the worst because of the registry. You don't even need to be on a registry for murder. Now we have entire towns of sex offenders because of the label they are attached with like in the scarlet letter. And now 80% of these offenders are from fake crimes created by police. Thankfully states are starting to be hurt enough financially because of it that they are finally doing something. |
Whatever keeps these deviants from harming children. I once read about a guy who got caught in a sting as he set foot in a Mexican airport waiting to f and abuse a mexican toddler he had communicated online. If FBI have the gumption to keep carrying out stings like this you do condemn so be it. In this case this lady was a criminal and glad she got caught, I don’t see it as a waste of taxpayers money. |
Oh, boo hoo! For sure, I'm not worrying about the privacy issues of sex deviants and criminals! And I'm fine with registries for murderers, too. |
NP here. I appreciated your time and post, too. Thank you! |
Police state. We are going to convict all the kids sending naked photos of themselves too? I'm sure they will grow up to be outstanding citizens. Meanwhile actual crimes get committed and the police do nothing. Why should they when they've convicted so many already? They pad their books with these fake crimes and show off that they've done "so much" when in fact their record is much less. |
Stay off porn sites and privacy won't be a concern. Shut them down. |
What age kids are on sex crimes registry? |
14 |
Old enough to know better than to do what Ms Hoppe is accused of doing. |
It sounds like you are too emotional about this conversation to have a rational version of it. It is possible to consider public policy issues from a less emotionally reactive place. Sex offender registries do not work as preventative tools. They are extremely broad and do not always show clearly what a particular offender is on the registry for. There is a pretty meaningful difference between an adult who commits sex crimes of any kind against a little kid and an 18yo senior with a 14yo freshman girlfriend. I am not saying that the second situation is not also problematic, but it is not predatory and scary in the same way. Yet both can end up on the registry. |
Oh boo fcxing hoo. It's a hell she created, SHE lost it all, nothing was taken FROM her. She isn't suffering enough. Save the empathy for people who deserve it. |
This, this, exactly this. PP is talking about a completely different issue and we don’t need to hash out the validity of that kind of sting. |
+1 stop derailing and muddying the conversation. |
