| So 2021 and onwards is all about partnerships? I think the new or smaller clubs can prove themselves without partnerships. Oh wait, veto power$…. |
Partnerships only enhance the top team for the kids. Two feeder programs to one top tier is an excellent pathway and ensures the best play with the best. Smaller clubs will play regional leagues while those who have the foresight to consolidate, while keeping their rec/house/travel teams humming will be stronger. This is the way. |

WHAT IS GOING ON?????????????????????????????
I feel like the entire soccer landscape has lost it's god-damn mind. So frantic and so much change and all in the middle of tryout season so nobody knows what the f*ck they are actually trying out for. |

WTF??? How in the heck are people from HERNDON driving to ARL? I just don't get it. Are we taking crazy pills?
So who HASN'T partnered yet? |
| My DD McLean team has multiple discovery players from Herndon. Can they still do McLean or are they required to do Arlington ECNL? |
it sounds great until a kid living in Herndon is expected to commute to practice in Arlington |
|
As a DP, that’s what? Once a week a drive from around tysons to around IAD?
Thats pretty easy. |
It would be multiple times a week and I think you meant DCA, not IAD? No, it's not easy. It can be done, but it ain't easy. |
|
Relax. This isn’t even breaking news. Herndon players have been going to Arlington already as discovery players just as some have been going to McLean. ( and yes, to the worried McLean parent- the Herndon discovery players can still play with McLean if they want)
This was just ‘formally’ announced last week but was known a few weeks ago. Here is the link http://www.herndonyouthsoccer.org/club-news/herndon-partnership-with-arlington |

All this means for Herndon kids is that they can be discovery players (up to 2 per age group) at Arlington. But they can be a discovery player on any other ECNL team (with their coach's permission). So nothing to write home about. The only difference is that, this year, Arlington is waiving the $200 ECNL fee for DP. And Arlington will allow Herndon players to use Arlington's college recruiting services.
Seriously, nothing groundbreaking here. |
Our club (Vienna) is in the middle of the DMV geographically but I don't think that they have partnered. My DD is on a top team but in a younger age group. Should I care about this or not? Appreciate the stability? Or be worried about some lack of opportunity? It's our local club and I have no real complaints so far. So I'm not worried for the time being. I'm definitely curious and a little confused by all the partnerships though. |
You can chill. Send DD to college soccer camps if you want her to get some visibility. |
| I"m not familiar with the discovery player rules or ECNL, but with how BRYC is structured, would a BRYC Bridge team player be a DP for the BRYC ECNL teams? Or would that only have been the case before ODSL folded and they tried to pick up a player from BRYC ODSL team (which is run through the rec program)? |
| Are any players from Nader’s teams staying with Herndon? |
