| Guess they are expecting a lot of new players on the ECNL teams. Rumors are anywhere from 4-12 girls depending on the age group. The biggest impact in the 08’s because COVID and DA to GA to ECNL but other ages will see the same thing. This will push girls down to Red and Red to White, etc. I have a hard time believing any girl trying out for ECNL would take a Red team position. I wonder how many GA girls would take Red or look for a new team? |
| Huh? What was this a meeting with current families to tell them to get ready to get demoted? Not following... |
| Did the boys team have a meeting too? |
| Don't ECNL offers go out May 1st/this Saturday? |
Nothing says U14 Arlington players like "If I'm not top team I won't play for the club" |
quit is probably more likely. There are only so many spots on ECNL rosters to go around. Would a girls who misses the cut at Arlington be good enough to take a spot from an already rostered girl at McLean or BRYC? |
players and families see how different teams are treated. Most wouldn't want to go from A team treatment to B team treatment |
Come on that is everywhere. If you are not starting on the top team there is no college soccer. Some of the things that are required for the top team at 13, 14 year old are ridiculous. So yep those girls should check out other programs. |
What are some of those ridiculous things? Just curious. |
But if they missed tryouts/ID sessions for other clubs who are going to be making their offers in a couple days they either have to stay or when you say quit, that means, quit soccer altogether? |
| 12 girls cut from a given team...not happening. |
ECNL vs Red is not like your typical 'A to B team'. ECNL in older years is a separate thing entirely. As you get to High School, many top players that are top academic students don't want the time constraint and excessive travel, missing classes and activities for that level. You have many that will step down to the red team of their own accord for this reason. From the boys side (I only have boys)--you get MANY players from all over the DMV in the later years---as do all ECNL/DA programs so the level of play on the Red teams stays very high---and often at a level pretty much equivalent to the ECNL team. |
the attrition rates for girls in high and middle school is through the roof. If they go from being on a team for years and the get cut from that team, I'd expect a significant number to quit soccer |
| This is completely false no way the 2008 team will be disbanded I guarantee it |
Maybe. You would have to look at positions and the age group. McLean and BRYC 08’s record is not great. There are a few SYC girls with the new alliance may end up at McLean but who knows where they will end up. |
