Be honest - how many of you would use Apple's new AirTags to see if your spouse or s/o is cheating?

Whether hiding it in a car or in a personal item, you could now easily use AirTags to follow a person around. Sure, not a new concept, bit it is just a lot easier now with Apple's airtags that are super cheap. Would you use it to try to see if your spouse were cheating on you, or simply to keep dibs on their movements? I mean this is almost obvious that this is gonna happen with this new tech.

If this is your first thought....

I’d rather just track my child. If I feel like have to track my SO, we are already done.

Abuse via tech is a thing now. If you’re using things like this to track your spouse or a Nest cam etc to see who enters your house, it can be abusive to your spouse.

Everyone deserves privacy.

We already both track each other with "Find My" on our phones. It's super handy to know when they will arrive for getting meals ready or to make sure a schedule change is remembered (so DH DID leave to pickup Larla, I see his dot moving). I guess unlike a Tag they can turn it off, but the principle of tracking is kind of there anyways.

I mean, my DH can't remember his iCloud password, that falls to me, so I know where his phone is regardless.

Hadn't even thought about it.

It's really an obsession on DCUM, this cheating thing.

Here's what apple has designed to prevent stalking, not sure if it works for a significant other because you can make sure it talks to the owner's phone every 3 days.

Still leaves a gaping hole to exploit. If you don't have an iPhone you can't detect an AirTag for 3 days. That leaves plenty of time for people to use it for tracking. The second feature (being able to find who the AirTag belongs to) only works IF you can find the AirTag. Someone who wants to follow a spouse could simply hide it really well.

Lol, seriously.

Also OP, learn how AirTags work. To allay concerns about tracking, AirTags are designed to notify someone (if they have an iPhone at least) if an AirTag that isn't registered to them appears to be traveling with them for a long period of time without its owner. They can then use their iPhone to disable it. It will also make a sound on its own if its been separated from its owner for too long.
