It is good for trap players, good for ECNL, and bad for GA. ECNL will immediately increase its college recruiting by getting talented Q3/4 players from GA.

Are we trying to bury GA? I think two leagues is a good thing. Keeps the other trying to get better.

Agreed! And if you really wanted to eliminate RAE you’d have two platforms with different age cut offs, and let kids play for clubs where they are getting the most development.

Both GA and ECNL target college recruiting as their selling point. Now ECNL will align itself perfectly with the strongest SY team. GA will only pick mediocre Q1/Q2 players with no hope for college recruiting.

There's what 2.5M+ million youth soccer players and that should grow as we head toward the World Cup, right? Plenty of elite players to go around. In fact, even USYS has some great players/clubs (and despite the growth of the others has the largest footprint).

Let's stop using the word elite with any us soccer player. The US can and has produced good players but has yet to produce an elite player or even a great player.

Oh, here we go... Euro soccer snob in 3...2...1....

Maybe, but I'm not wrong.

🤣 on women’s side, plenty. On men’s there have been a couple; Clint and Christian - and before you go sour on Clint, he was absolutely considered an elite player at that time and his analytic stats backed that up vs his peers.

I don’t think you’re aware of how much growth the men’s side has made in professional soccer in the past 10 years. Maybe update your priors?

Are you serious, Clint and Christian elite? How about you update your standards?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Back on track…

I heard ECNL is scrambling and is now thinking of making a push to do something next year about BY/SY given GA’s moves.

A marketing agreement between GA and MLSN causing fear in ECNL HQ? Laughable. ECNL on the girls side will remain top for a while. Get back to us when big ECNL clubs switch to GA. Until then college coaches will go to where the best players play.

Say what you want. They’re scrambling. Change is coming. They’re already behind.

What kind of change?

2025 instead of 2026 scrambling?

ECNL wanted to start SY in 25/26 and get pushed off by USSF. I think the best they can do is to copy MLS biobanding to allow 3 Q3/Q4 players to play down or all teams play up in BY. We will know in 3 weeks.

The biggest threat to boys soccer is the reduction in boys getting recruited from either league. There is no guarantee that you get recruited even to a d3 school being at MLS next or ECNL.

Is that a new club or a website for Fairfax Union?

https://www.fvaunion.org/[url]

I think this is the relevant website. And, I have to say this intrigue has got me hooked. I don't really have a personal stake in it. I have a son who plays on a squad and in a league where we do not expect movement (who knows?!). And I understand that some folks may be feeling anxiety about where there son or daughter may be playing next year. But for whomever is starting these rumors and stoking the uncertainty, you got me. I keep checking back here for news, and it's killing me.

What is the intrigue over FVA Union? Is there an additional change to the club beyond last year’s merger?

Offers are going out for next year's U13 in ECNL this week in Socal (and to some extent for U14 and U15). It is really too late to change anything.
Anonymous
Same for a few NC ecnl clubs. ECNL season over for senior girls and offers for 25/26 out.
Anonymous
ECNL lost its chance to bioband a few Q3/Q4 down and make the SY transition easier.
Anonymous
Hopefully this announcement following the AGM in early March determines whether ECNL "lost its chance to bioband". Clarity around this age change is necessary ASAP. Where we are offers go out on a rolling basis and can take until May for a roster to be finalized.
