| Where does it fall in terms of luxury or economy cars? |
| Hell no |
| I don’t think so, no. It’s more like a top consumer brand. |
| Someone just posted about this recently didn’t they? Not luxury. May drive nice. Maybe nice to drive. Or not. I drove the c60 and wasn’t impressed. |
| It hits some of the notes and markets itself as one. It certainly has luxury level reliability and cost of ownership (neither of which is a good thing) |

For me its in the middle: above Honda and Toyota, but below BMW and Mercedes.
I would put it on par with Acura, Lexus, and Audi. |
an Audi A8 is on par with anything Mercedes or BMW sell. It's all relative, a Lexus LS is more of a luxury vehicle than a 3 series or a C class. At the very top in, Mercedes and BMW are more expensive depending on special editions but you never see those cars anywhere around this area anyway |
I was not referring to actual quality but perceived “luxury” status and Audi is below BMW and Mercedes in that regard IMO. A loaded suburban is $80k - that doesn’t make Chevy a luxury brand. |
This. |
Well, you kind of answered your own question didn't you? Luxury is about perception and that varies from group to group. In this area, I don't think most would refer to Volvo as a luxury car, but that's also true of most Mercedes and BMWs here. Conversely, if you were in a small town in the South or Midwest, then they probably look at a Volvo differently- more exotic and refined, even though it's a Chinese ownership group riding a coatails of a Swedish brand that hasn't really existed in 20 years. And when Volvo was Volvo, it wasn't a luxury brand, but it came to be seen as that because it was popular with the monied set, just like Barbour jackets became a luxury status symbol, even though they had humble origins. |
Except it is much higher priced that Acura or Lexus. Volvo S90 starts at 60k. Lexus ES starts at 40k. Mercedes E-class starts at 54k. |
| A Volvo is $60k-$70k. So, yes, it is a luxury car despite what you all think. |
| Yes |
The S90 is comparable to the Lexus LS, not ES. The Lexus ES compares to the S60. And a Lexus RX is comparable priced to an XC60, its size competitor. |
| Def not |
