ECNL moving to school year not calendar

No major changes coming until 26/27. We should get a plan of how various leagues and state associations will operate, and how that fill effect tournament play. Everyone will be still be BY unless clubs decide to play up.

I think what I want to know is like, is ECNL going SY in 26/27 for sure. That will mean my daughter is NOT going to be playing ECNL that year, and willl instead most likely repeat her U12 year. Her current club plays U12's with U13's to get them an early year at 11v11. That makes alot less sense to me though if she's doing to repeat the U12 year. I'd rather she just continue to play 9v9 next year. So I do think knowing at least what the plan will be in 26 soon, will help parents, clubs, and coaches, figure out how to think about next year.

With MLS2 and GA2 coming this fall, it is hard to believe ECNL will not make any changes for 25/26. A bold move will be to let NL/RL teams play up a year to finish the transition.

ECNL is going to SY cut offs. What they are trying to figure out is how other local teams are going to do with their cut offs as each state will have various cutoffs depending on their school districts start dates.

It sounds like US Club is going 9/1 which means most clubs under their umbrella will as well.

I was told that was the deal made with US soccer. US club/ECNL will honor it and give extended time to allow clubs to be situated by 26/27. So potentially being phased in over time. Everyone should know by mid March.

There have been no official announcements on the SY cutoff dates. Just one podcast where 9/1 was mentioned but not determined.

All indications are that they will move to SY. But the cutoff dates are in flux still and to be discussed at the meeting at end of month.
