How much a club could make out of Academy teams

Anonymous

6 age groups, Boys or Girls

6 x $2,500/year x 20 (Players) = $300,000

3 full-time coaches, 2 age groups per coach

3*$80,000/year/coach = $240,000

then what is left
field cost 10 months/year X 4 weeks/month X 3 times/week = 120 times. 6 age groups need 3 full-size fields. I have no idea about the field rental. maybe 1000/year/field???

League cost $5000/year

Any additional expense? administration? tax? professional fees?

Additional revenue -- Clinics? Camps?

There may be a substantial number of players on partial or full scholarship.

or you could be at clubs like MYS where you have way more than 20 players but all your fixed costs are the same -- that subsidizes a few scholarships pretty quick, yes?

Think you may be overestimating what the coaches get paid - although there are assistant coaches too.

Yes - you can see why some clubs want to carry larger rosters. That money flows straight to the bottom line.

I don't think academy teams are especially profitable when viewed in isolation. I do think a strong academy program improves reputation/brand though and the club is able to leverage that in many ways.

plus tournament fees, uniform kit, goalkeeper training, speed training (maybe), plus part goes to TD/club directors salary

No club I'm familiar with in this area (VA or MD) pay for any of these things. Does yours?

We spend around
-$200/year on tournament fees
-$500 on kits, bag and club branded gear (warm up jacket, pants, etc)- some of that is optional
- additional training is usually about $150/ set of sessions

Then you’re not with Loudoun. Loudoun basically anal-izes you for a subpar training

Goalkeeper training is provided at at least some of the top clubs in the area.

I'm guessing your base fee is a bit higher than $2500 then?

My experience across multiple ECNL/DA clubs has been that some clubs charge a bit more but only charge one fee while others have a lower sticker price but then hit you up for the extras a few weeks into the season. $3K was/is my budget for everything including uniforms which you obviously only have to buy every two years and we don't typically buy the optional items. I'm aware Loudoun charges quite a lot more, but think they are an outlier.
I'm aware Loudoun charges rather more and don't have any data for McLean.

No, both clubs where they paid tourney fees were under 2500.

Some of these clubs pay ridiculous sums to their directors. There’s probably a couple of hundred dollars per player going to at least one director in the region.
