Vaccine preregistration then radio silence

Anonymous
I have confirmed the registration by phone and even received the general message earlier this week that am still on the waitlist. But no appointment yet!

When will vaccine access improve if you meet the current criteria in DC?

This is for DC resident registration.

You will be notified when your lottery number is up.

Two members of my family have so far, so the system is sort of working.

This week's COVID email bulletin from DC Health (sent Wed. the 31st) said:

"Each week, invitations are sent:

Thursdays by 10:00 a.m.
Sundays by 10:00 a.m.
And, only if any appointments still need to be filled, Tuesdays by 10:00 a.m.

Anyone who registers by 11:59 p.m. on March 31 and who is currently eligible for the vaccine in DC will be part of tomorrow’s randomized selection process. Once invitations go out, individuals have 48 hours to book their appointment. If an individual does not book their appointment, their name will go back in the pre-registration system (after three unanswered invitations an individual will need to register in the system again).

Eligible individuals are selected through a process that randomizes those who have pre-registered, according to the following breakdown:

20% go to DC residents in priority zip codes who are 65 and older
20% go to DC residents in any zip code who are 65 and older
20% go to DC residents in priority zip codes who are 18-64 with a qualifying medical condition
20% go to DC residents in any zip code who 18-64 with a qualifying medical condition
10% go to DC residents in priority zip codes who are members of an eligible workforce who are 18 and older
10% go to members of an eligible workforce who are 18 and older, regardless of home address"

Presumably, wash, rinse, repeat next week.

So, then, will they be expanding eligibility next week? I assume so.

BTW, check in the Health and Medicine forum for more information on where to get vaccines.

Drive to Salisbury--most DC residents are now. Forget DC--DC has forgotten you.

I've read that the Biden Administration will force them to at some point but have no info on it. The Post story on Giant stopping orders of new vaccines shows how badly DC has bungled this and created an artificial scarcity.

meanwhile Giant is sending doses out of state because the preregistration system is dysfunctional.
Anonymous
What if you just showed up at one of the Giants that has vaccine going to waste? Are they all located in the priority zip codes?

They finally acknowledged they didn't have enough staff to administer the vaccine.

Omg, the degree of incompetence at all levels is mind boggling.

The staffing claim is a clear lie that Giant said under pressure from DC Health.

Check Walgreens, they had dozens of appointments available yesterday.

absolutely. The fact is DC GOV doesn't actually sit with any 'vendors' and co-plan. How about weekly Zoom meetings like the rest of us? Novel idea. I know!
