| DH and I are vaccinated. I want to go to Mexico but our 10 and 12 yr old kids will not be vaccinated. Is it too risky? We would wear masks when around people and not eat indoors anywhere. All outdoor eating. Wear mask and face shield on the plane and in the van transporting us to the hotel and back. |
| No |

It's no different than all the people who traveled to FL or SC or Tx or CA or wherever, so if you would go or have been to those places, then there is no difference. If you are the type who wouldn't go to those places, then maybe stay home from Mexico.
But yes. I'd go. We went in January actually. |
This is the highest risk component by far. I'd skip the van, get a taxi, and have all the windows open. But I wouldn't go. There are so many good summer destinations within driving distance of DC. |
| I wouldn’t. Two differences with Florida. One, if a kid gets infected, you could end up stuck there through quarantine period. Two, I think their hospitals are pretty f—ed still. What if your kid breaks a leg or gets food poisoning or hits their head? Would you feel comfortable going to an overwhelmed Mexican hospital? |
Medical care is better in the United States. Who knows if their health insurance would even cover them there. If one of the teenagers gets Covid, they’ll be stuck in Mexico with God knows what healthcare. |
| I'm in MX. The rates in Mexico are horrendous. Please don't come here. |
Like where???? Please don't say OC, MD or DE or VA Beach. |
Well I think Bar Harbor is driving distance and we have driven there in one long day many times. Northern Michigan is only a little longer. |

We used to go to Mexico a lot growing up. Once my brother sliced his foot open on coral - he was whisked up by our five-star resort to a mansion in the hills (surrounded by guards with machine guns) and a doctor stitched him up on a patio. This all happened while my brother was seated in what I can only describe as a dentist chair. Needless to say, he had major problems when we got back to the States and needed months of rehab for a botched job.
A few years ago, my mother stumbled on a sidewalk and had to go to the hospital on holiday in Mexico. Her experience was so bad that she and my father won't ever go back to Mexico. So, my personal answer is no. And I love Mexico. Just not now. |
Wow, I'm the PP who won't go back to Mexico right now. Bar Harbor sucks. Went there last summer. Touristy, terrible food (you can only eat so much lobster and fried food), freezing cold water, rocky beaches, traffic jams, restaurants close by 7pm, etc. We did a ton of long hikes at Acadia, but they got crowded - everything was crowded. Bar Harbor is better than MD or DE beaches, but not much. |
| Honestly, why can't people just stay home. |
| No. |
You sound hysterical and not particularly well suited to travel. |

I have kids the same ages and I would not. We have airline credit that we considered using for winter break to Mexico. I did not book.
We have driven to Florida, SC, NC, PA and local skiing during this pandemic. I plan to go north this summer - NY, MA, ME. DH and I are vaccinated. I just booked my first flight for myself with a friend. DH has work meetings in July and September that he will fly to. |
