OP have you never seen the Netflix series about trouble in paradise? It’s basically about Americans and Canadians who go on vacation in places like Mexico and have a medical emergency. Totally unforeseen.
Well the outcome is always the same. The Mexican hospitals require payment in full before they will release the person to go back to their home country, and that’s if they’re even well enough to fly. Also, some people experienced botched medical service and ended up with infections, gangrene and amputation by the time they made it back to their home countries. That series made me think long and hard about planning for medical emergencies when I want to visit third and second world countries. |
| Just got back from Cancun 2 weeks ago, with my 10 and 12 year old. We all tested negative and it's now been 14 days so safe to say we're good. Had an amazing time and would do it again in a second. Resort was super clean, lots of masks and safety precautions, etc. |
I Haven’t heard of anyone whose test wasn’t negative. |
It actually is very different because getting sick in the US is a very different ballgame than if you get sick in another country and have to access that healthcare and be stranded there until you can fly again. For that reason I wouldn’t do it. |
| Not until case counts are much lower globally. |
I recently saw the numbers on this and it is something like 27 people have had to quarantine. Not many. |
| Would people change their responses if Canada was open and it was Canada and not Mexico? |
| No! |
No. I don’t want to be stranded in a foreign country with a health problem that prevents me from getting back here. |
| No. Go somewhere nearby this year and wait to go abroad. |
Your real biological kids that you birthed? Kids that you actually like and want them to remain healthy? |
| No but I'd leave the kids with the grandparents and go on an adults only vacation! |
| Extremely low risk for Covid complications for children. You’re bigger issues getting stuck there because they test positive with no symptoms. Not the end of the world if you can find a great place to quarantine. |
Do you ever leave the US? |
| No way |
