This School is a gem. Strong leadership that is transparent. True sense of community and kids learn character values. Strong academic curriculum.
Highly recommend...go visit! |
| Trolls be aware! |
| I would expect that the school would be full up for next year. Not sure why someone would troll. |
| This school is not full. Otherwise op won’t be trolling. |
| It is a shame if it is not full. I’ve been so impressed with their students and staff at the MAISA fair. The Episcopal curriculum is terrific. |
| If a private school is not full by now that tells you something |
We looked at a ton of great private schools in MD during this past application season and this poster's comment is completely wrong. We found that many private schools have spots. CES was not convenient to where we live, so our DD didn't end up there, but it is by all accounts an excellent school. There was nothing "wrong" with any school we looked at that had some space available. |
| Interest timing on this post OP. Things that make you say hmmmmmm |
This is just a weird comment. CES has always been more of a rolling admissions school, so it’s not exactly strange to see people advertise or the school hold events throughout the year (not just admissions “season”). They have an event next month. So not sure why the timing of this post would be considered “interesting.” |
Np There have been so many comments on this forum as well as next door I kind of wonder what’s going on too. |
+1 |
| Why is everyone calling OP a troll? What is so interesting about her post? CES is a very small private school. They are trying to drum up business and one of the ways they are getting the word out is posting about it on a widely read parenting board. I've only heard good things about the school but for whatever reason, it seems to be overlooked by many in the area. Maybe the niche they are after isn't interested in them? Who knows. |
If this doesn't epitomize DCUM, I don't know what does. Parents' enthusiasm for the school has crossed over the threshold of whatever some people here deem appropriate, and therefore the school must be the opposite of what they say it is. SMH. What's going on is that there is an off-season open house and summer camp coming up that the school/parents will be advertising. So yes, you will probably see a lot of activity here and on Nextdoor. Tough crowd when parent enthusiasm is viewed as ominous or suspicious. They are literally using these platforms as intended. CES is a wonderful school. The trolling and snark here are ridiculous. |
| I agree with PP. We have had a wonderful experience at CES. The curriculum is strong the the teachers/staff/community are so loving. The school turns out students that get accepted to their first choice high school programs and are widely respected by those high schools. It's an amazing place. Like other posters said, they are offering a PS summer camp this year, and holding an extra open house that is off season. Why is it questionable to advertise that?? The parents I know in the school truly love it and want to spread the word. This school has been known as "Rockville's hidden gem" for decades. Perhaps they just don't want it to be hidden anymore! |
It's not trolling. There has been much discussion on how this school is in financial trouble. I would want to research that before signing up for the school. It's just so over the top it seems like people are set out to "save" it. Which I hope happens, like it did with my kid's school Seneca. Good luck! But, yes, people can wonder what is going on without trolling. |
