Lol parents whose complaints were easily countered can’t stop posting same things repeatedly.

As a parent who is close with the leadership at CES, I can say they’re usually not even aware of the threads on here nor do I believe they’d think this type of back and forth is an effective use of anyone’s time and energy. I think leadership at most schools assumes parents will visit and ask questions of schools independently to make an informed decision, rather than making one based on the same 4 people’s posts on DCUM threads.

I’m a parent who applied to the school this year. The administration was completely transparent with me about their situation and plans with the Jefferson Building. We have enrolled as well.

This thread is an amazing mix of trolls whose kids (if they have any) don't go to CES and parents who clearly don't read or understand the information they've been given and substitute their own reality.

FTFY

"...in bed with admin." Good grief. This is a small, close-knit independent school. This is not Sidwell. If by "in bed" you mean actually read and listened to information distributed by the school, then sure. Give it a rest already!!

Agreed. What a dumb comment. CES is not some $50k/year school where parents try to ingratiate themselves with the school leadership to influence decision-making. The 3 people on here who keep posting negative things are so bitter that they didn't absorb very easily digestible information about the school's plans. Move on, people. Spread your baseless negativity elsewhere.

No, you actually just proved my point.

Our family loves CES community and has been there for long time. I was shocked and mad when I saw some ridiculous comments. However, I have to agree with one of the pp, if your child fits in the “CES box”, you will be very happy. If your child needs help with behavior issues or your child is very talented, your child will be lost. They are very small yet not nimble enough to handle non-average kids. Overall it’s a nice school.

So the merging plan was NEVER told to the parents before end of January when only 1/3 of fundraising was met! Then all of a sudden the school said they could manage to open with 1/3 of fundraising and selling the Jefferson building. It's so strange. This is from another disappointing parent that will leave!

Do you need someone to come to your house and give you a Powerpoiint briefing, because it sounds like you've either ignored or misunderstood what's been communicated over the last several months. My child graduated years ago and apparently I know more than you do.

I saw on the news that this place was closing mid year then they pivoted?

Thank you for sharing this. I helped with one of the enrollment committees this spring, and the school made it a point to be transparent to applicants. And, I also read and understood the very clear internal communications from the school to current parents. The idea that anyone somehow felt hoodwinked is nonsensical. It’s a lovely school with a great new Head and a bright future. Here’s hoping this strange, pointless thread ends soon.

We applied there for third grade next year and have not heard anything as of yet. Have they already offered admissions to everyone?

Hi there, I would imagine you'll be hearing from them very soon (this week?) if you haven't already. I would send Janet in Admissions a quick email to check on the status (jgerber@cesrockville.org) - she is wonderful. On a side note, our daughter loves the third grade teacher Best wishes to you.
