Not really. This is still the same Kamala Harris that everyone - including Democrats - was embarrassed by a few short months (days!) ago. But the gaslighting continues. We are not to remember any of that.

Not everything is a conspiracy. It would be really irresponsible for the media to just run around trashing Kamala and causing chaos come time for the DNC. Some people who hated her, did a little research and like her. It’s time to stop thinking that everyone else is some massive sheep just because they don’t agree with your version of the events.

Realistically no. They chose a candidate who speaks beyond Pidgin and doesn’t have the early signs of Parkinson’s. Dems put themselves in a really bad trap, and are desperately clawing to get out of it.

For black students, she reminds them of their “aunties”- really any older person in the family who’s fun to be around. For my other students, they used to hate her for the constant laughing, but now they have taken her so unseriously that they genuinely like her. One of my students commented that she gives them “Leslie Knope energy, vibes…”

Is Kent state really that big of a deal? Boomers grew up pretty damn well. Id take their spot over the tech era where not many young people can truly connect, their emotions are honestly a mess from their electronic addictions, they will never own a home, and they’re increasingly having to delay all passions for the realities of economics. We don’t have to compare every generation to the Greatest generation.

The vast majority of Democrats have been walking around despondent because our party gave us little choice but to vote to nominate Biden even though most of us told them we think he's too old. We hadn't paid that much attention to Harris.

Now we have a coherent, energetic candidate who is not a felon and who definitely won't remove fda approval for the abortion pill or eliminate the Department of Ed and that is exciting because it is SO much better than the alternative.

Obama had depth to counter his levity . He was a great orator . Could make fun of himself in the same way W Bush could.

Good comedic timing. Personable . I knew Barack’s whole life story when he made that stellar 2004 DNC speech/one of the best political star making speeches in history . Republicans even give him that. And he wrote that speech himself. Does the DNC on running a keynote speaker this year that has the same future promise to be the next one in charge?

If anything, she needs to tone down the exuberance. Her off-the-cuff remarks were she laughs too much make her look unserious and can be cringeworthy. I'm hoping she will get coaching to stop that. But overall she has positive energy and seems like she is a happy person. All that matters is how that contrasts with Trump. He is like a raging Rumpelstilskin figure at this point so she's got an advantage there.

I disagree, I ended up really appreciating Obama. He could joke when it was appropriate but then when he was serious he was captivating.

I need to watch more of Kamala to come to a conclusion about that aspect of her, but she seems like a relatively nice person who can be fun.

I just don’t like her policies. Or at least the policies she had in 2020. She needs to come out being much more restrictive on immigration. Just basing off of her 2020 stance… nope. Not going to vote for her.

If she switches things up on that then maybe. I mean there’s two main reasons I’m not a Democrat anymore and the biggest one is immigration. If they get more Trumpy on immigration but keep everything else I’d be as enthusiastic as I was when I walked myself to my local precinct to caucus for Bernie in 2016.

You can remember that, but the context has changed.

People thought Biden was in good shape and likely to give Trump another whipping like he did in 2020.

The debate happened and people started panicking that he wasn't up to. Good news, he stepped down and Kamala stepped up. Some people are still concerned, but once we all saw how the party coalesced around here and how the grassroots started going bananas for her, our doubts were soothed.

Also, as MAGA nuts often like to point out, many, many, many Dems had been calling for this for awhile.

Your first two paragraphs are absolutely revisionist history. NO ONE believed Biden was in good shape - or thought he had any chance of “whipping” Trump. WELL before the debate, most Americans knew Biden was in serious decline - but Democrats refused to let anyone speak about it, and if they did, they were mocked, ostracized, and called trolls. It was only after the debate, when they could no longer keep up their lies, that calls for Biden to withdraw began.

The few Democrats who were brave enough to broach the subject early on - like Dean Phillips - were mocked mercilessly.

But what a rosy story you’ve spun - and I bet you actually believe it!
