Not typically in this channel, but I have to ask: can someone explain how the hell Kamala Harris managed to change the narrative about her amongst young people very sharply? Like, less than a week ago, if you told the average young progressive voter that Kamala’s the next president they’d jump into a vat of hot oil while screaming “Cop!” And now she has memes all over Twitter about how amazing she is?!
They might not be the same people. Overall the young people want a younger candidate, just like the rest of us.
Or it’s a bunch of astroturf. Nobody likes Kamala. She is a well-recognized moron.
This. It is still beyond amusing to me that most Democrats wanted her off the ticket altogether just a year ago, because she was thought of as such a liability. But now, all of a sudden, liberal gaslighting kicks in again and she’s overnight become the best candidate ever. You know, from the same people who insisted Biden was fit and “sharp as a tack.” Too, too funny. https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2023/09/the-case-for-biden-to-drop-kamala-harris.html https://thehill.com/opinion/campaign/4581043-with-or-without-biden-democrats-are-stuck-with-kamala-harris/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/09/11/how-americans-feel-about-kamala-harris-becoming-president/ https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2023/09/biden-kamala-harris-vice-president-democratic-primary-challengers.html
Well, times change.
Not really. This is still the same Kamala Harris that everyone - including Democrats - was embarrassed by a few short months (days!) ago. But the gaslighting continues. We are not to remember any of that.
You can remember that, but the context has changed. People thought Biden was in good shape and likely to give Trump another whipping like he did in 2020. The debate happened and people started panicking that he wasn't up to. Good news, he stepped down and Kamala stepped up. Some people are still concerned, but once we all saw how the party coalesced around here and how the grassroots started going bananas for her, our doubts were soothed. Also, as MAGA nuts often like to point out, many, many, many Dems had been calling for this for awhile.
Your first two paragraphs are absolutely revisionist history. NO ONE believed Biden was in good shape - or thought he had any chance of “whipping” Trump. WELL before the debate, most Americans knew Biden was in serious decline - but Democrats refused to let anyone speak about it, and if they did, they were mocked, ostracized, and called trolls. It was only after the debate, when they could no longer keep up their lies, that calls for Biden to withdraw began. The few Democrats who were brave enough to broach the subject early on - like Dean Phillips - were mocked mercilessly. But what a rosy story you’ve spun - and I bet you actually believe it!
Honest question. Are you a democrat?
