Do they an interest in advancing all black people in VA or just one black person?

neither - their interest is advancing all Black Democrats in VA, and all non-Black Democrats.

Based on what exactly?

Democrats aren’t vindictive a-holes. You must be thinking of Trump.

Based on the fact that they are supporting a White candidate over a Black candidate who has an opportunity to be first ever Governor of the Commonwealth.

Without profanity, name calling, or Trump bashing, can you explain why the NAACP would endorse a White candidate over a Black one other than partisan politics. I bet you can't.

First ever governor? No.
First black governor? No
What are you trying to whine about?

I live in NoVA. I've been to the MGM casino in MD. It's a sh|thole. And I don't want a similar establishment anywhere near Tyson's Corner, if I have any say in it.

I don't trust her at all. I think Virginia runs better off normal conservatism (NOT Trumpism). Sears or Miyares would have my vote.

Sears would be the first black woman governor EVER yet Democrats want to pass over her for a pale white lady who carpetbagged to run for Congress in Nova (she lives in the Richmond area).

She can't even say the border is bad or that men shouldn't play in women's sports, oyet I hear everyone talking about how moderate she is.

I am begging someone to tell me when/how she has voted against Democrats on something. What is so moderate about her?

Listen to the Mike Benz podcasts. Any of them; just pick one.

Spanberger is trained in deception. It is her profession.

She represents everything wrong with our government. She is literally one of those who puts the skeletons in the closet and makes certain the door stays closed.

Do not trust her whatsoever.

I love her and can NOT wait for her!!

Anyone thinking Sears has a chance of winning a general election is nuts.

Really? I'm a moderate Dem and I have a better opinion of Youngkin now because VA is doing pretty well and he hasn't done anything to mess that up. We're not a state in shamble. We just need a steady hand at the wheel so we don't drive off into a ditch.

This. I'm fine with deadlocked state government because I think that Virginia is doing well and we don't need massive legislative packages from either party

+2
Things are pretty good as they are. Gov. Youngkin has done a good job keeping with moderate common sense policy which has mostly come in the form of NOT supporting things like increasing access to recreational drugs and vetoing minimum wage hikes that would have been job killers for teens/young people and rural parts of the state. I’m also very happy with the school cell phone ban.

I will vote for whoever is the most moderate and common sense.

+3
I think Youngkin has been an all-around good governor.

+4
Agree. Imagine if we were like DC and forced every public school kid to get the Covid vaccine for example. A lot is about what didn't happen.

-1 million

Youngkin is a lying MAGA misogynist.

True but so what? Nothing actually changed under him. The only thing that I can recall in the past few years is the random tax refunds we get each year and cell phone bans in school. What has significantly changed for Virginians under him?

I do not trust any Republican while Trump is in the white house.

Our schools are terrible. I want school choice, more magnets and she is only interested in resource teachers. I’m at a title 1 school and there are already 2-3 resource teachers per classroom, yet every year scores drop. There is such intense focus on underperforming kids that no one else is learning grade level material. Instead of politicians saying they’re for schools- what about teachers and parents?

This comment got me thinking. It's the one thing that Spanberger said about schools that makes me cringe. Otherwise, I like her. I didn't vote for Youngkin, but in regards to school...I think he's done a great job. The school system is failing the kids. I appreciate the standards and accountability he's put in. I celebrate that he finally stood up to cell phones in school! So, if Sears has been under him for the past few years...I may just vote for her. Haven't even considered it until this comment made me think about it.

I'm a single issue voter for education and voted straight R. Will never trust Democrats with my kids after Covid.

This is so ignorant. Covid was new to everyone. You would say the same thing about Republicans if they just do happen to be in control when Covid hit. It was uncharted territory and you are a Monday morning quarterback. BTW.. my kids made it through those 7 months just fine.

Trump is not taking away anyone's right to vote. Both the Dems and Republicans are to blame for the government shutdown, the Fed was too big and filled with ineptitude (that was well know talk around DC) that you could joke about a bad employee never being fired but just re-assigned. Give me logical, rational reasons and I will listen.

Have you been paying attention at all?? if you have kids in HS you need to wake up. Trump is setting this country up to help the super wealthy and that’s it. I have no optimism for the future job market due to AI and all the company consolidation that is being allowed. Unemployment is going up. Housing costs and food costs, healthcare costs. All expensive and the current administration could care less. Very very worried for my children and all these hysterics about bathrooms in HS are so the least of our problems.

I’m worried about this, too, just like you. However, the Democrats are not helping with their policies to which they still hold on to; intentionally eliminating merit on all fronts and instead only rewarding a perceived disadvantaged background. Opening the country, schools, and colleges to limitless influx, and enrollment of foreigners (they didn’t start this, but they will double down on it), and it’s now come to a tipping point that will be put into overdrive with the AI revolution and the elimination of jobs in the millions…. the elimination of so many jobs across all fields and income levels, with even more competition for what remains.

DP. What are you even talking about? Trump is the one who has made it easier for over half a million Chinese nationals to enroll in college. Also thanks to trumps policies soon everyone’s kids will be from a disadvantaged background. Look at the people Trump promotes and tell me again that he cares about merit.

+1 Trump has also cut grants for research and technology which help spur American businesses in favor of giving tax cuts to billionaires who will replace your kid's career prospects with AI. All the while running up fiscal deficits and cutting health care benefits in ways that will make our economy less productive.

The fact that many parents are still in an uproar over transgender student policies while Trump is torching the future for our kids is incomprehensible.

Some voters aren’t driven by facts or reason.

Tide is turning on the GOP attempt to make trans kids the biggest problem in the known universe.

Yeah, because 99% of people spend about 5 seconds a week thinking about transgender kids and whether they should access bathrooms/locker rooms. Meanwhile Virginia Republicans try to stick their head in the sand and pretend that their economy hasn't been decimated by the job cuts from the federal government and Amazon...

Fair enough. What’s wrong with the MGM casino? I’ve been there and it’s a nice facility, although I’ve heard of some sketchy incidents there.

DP. It’s not because I disagree with Sears on the trans issue. It’s because that seems to be all she has, and it just isn’t important compared to everything else happening. Trump has made such a mess of things and hurt me and my NoVA neighbors, and if there’s even a small hope that someone will fight back against it, or at least help us somehow, I am voting for them.

Because the NAACP is supporting the candidate whose policies will be MOST beneficial to POC in the state of VA. Simple.

what policies are those?

Amazon didn’t cut corporate jobs here FYI if you’re referring to the recent 10% layoffs
