Parents out of town- can 16 year old have friends over?

Anonymous
husband and I went out of town for 2 nites for other child sport event.. Left our 6 year old home with our 16 year old. Have neighbor and nanny “on stand by” if they need anything.
Usually my parents fly in but with Covid all relatives out.
16 year old asked if he could have his 2 friends over after he puts 6 year old to bed. Great kids. Only wants them to come over for couple hours.
We said no.
We also wouldn’t leave them alone again even though we live in safe area etc.
What age would u leave 16 year old with 6 year old- snd would you allow friends?

No. I don’t think this is age dependent, it just depends on when you trust your child with that type of responsibility.

Yes, I would totally allow that. I did that sort of thing all the time at that age. I would feel happy to have my kid have some company, as long as I knew and trusted the kids.

No way my child would go over. One parent should stay home or all go.

Sure, if he was going to throw a party he wouldn't ask permission and you dont want him feeling like hes being punished for babysitting.

This is how bad things happen. No adult supervision?

Yes, Baby is asleep, you know these kids. What exactly are you afraid of, if your son wants to throw a party while your away he will do it whether you give him permission
Or not

Would you trust your 16 year old to watch a six year old

Why do 2 parents need to watch a sporting event? Bad choice.

I'm Gen X. I would and I did when my child was 15.

No, covid.

I wouldn’t have left my16 year old home alone for two nights much less home responsible for a 6 year old.
