| I’ll be the first to admit I loved their 2019 superbowl commercial about being made in America - I was their target audience who thought “when I need a car I’ll look at that!” But had NO idea how insane it would ever be to buy one. What exactly is the hype? I’m looking at similar SUV’s and curious as to whether they’re really that much better than the Highlander, Acadia Denali, Pilot, etc. Why are people paying $10k+ over MSRP for these? If they’re that good I want in on it! |
| I tested it and liked it. I wanted to buy it, but then I saw how it was marked up above MSRP, which is ridiculous. It’s a Kia. No, I am not spending $55k on a Kia. |
| Are people really paying that much over MSRP?! That is crazy. I have only ever paid BELOW MSRP for a car when I have bought new. |
|
It’s a new model and seems to be very popular in the DC area. It looks a bit more compact than its American-brand peers.
I’d look at inventory in other areas - Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, etc. I bet it’s less popular there and you can get it at or below MSRP. With COVID, they probably had manufacturing and raw material delays. So it just may be that they are getting back to full capacity. |

I've looked at several YouTube reviews are they are marked up all over the country.
It's a hot SUV for a "reasonable" price with better warranties than most. |
| I really want one but the sticker price is crazy. I wish I could rent one for a week. |
| I test drove one and it was totally whatever. Plus, no matter how popular it is, it’s still a Kia. I think the Toyota Highlander is better quality for that price range. |
| We have a Kia and a Toyota. Would buy another Kia again in a heartbeat. The Toyota, not so much. |
| Have you looked into the Hyundai Palisade as an alternative? It’s essentially the same car with minor differences but might have better availability/pricing. |
|
We purchased the Palisade a year ago. It was really hard to find what I wanted to test drive - so I purchased it out of state.
Very happy with my purchase decision. At the time - there was talk that they underpriced it when they entered the market. I am not surprised that it is going for that much over MSRP. |
To circle back, we actually went with a Highlander. The redesign did Toyota well, and for essentially the same car in the same class it was significantly less. Kia's are selling like a luxury SUV - and I can't figure out why people are paying luxury prices for a Kia, honestly. |
| We just bought a Palisade a few weeks ago - we love it. |
Because the Kia is much better looking than the Palisade |
Crazy town. It’s probably more luxurious than a Toyota though. |
Pre-2020-redesign it was, but I actually liked a lot of aspects of the '21 Highlander interior better than the Kia. Again, just wondering if there was something I was missing! Happy with my decision though. |
