| Thinking of making a small registry for second baby. Any items people suggest having? So far I basically have pacifiers and diapers. |
| tacky |

-New car seats. You'll need 4 car seats now because soon baby and your older kid will both need car seats in both cars.
-double stroller (if you want one) -breastfeeding supplies like those soothies for the first few months -new bath towels, changing pad covers or crib sheets if yours are trashed (I'm on baby 3 and some haven't made it!) -new sound machine (so both kids can have one) -more baby hangers (both kids will need them) -new baby book -diaper rash cream -infant tylenol I didn't make mine public though, it was just stuff I bought for myself with registry discounts. I'm asking my parents for a newborn and family photoshoot |
| Books. A book registry doesn’t feel as tacky, idk why. |
| Please don’t do that. |
| Don't do it. That's ridiculous. |
|
Make the registry. Make it private. Only share if someone specifically asks. Buy the remaining items using the discount code.
As long as you don’t share unless asked it’s fine. |

We made a registry for our second kid, but only for the completion discount. Our kids are two years apart, so we were able to reuse crib, pack and play, changing pad, recliner, ect. We mostly used it to restash
- We reused our infant car seat, but bought a convertible for when he outgrows the bucket one, since sister is still in her convertible. - Breastfeeding supplies. I reused my Spectra from DD and bought new valves and tubing. I also got new caps for the storage bottles. CHECK THE O-RINGS FOR MOLD! - Lactation tea or supplements - I got a Willow through insurance this time around, and put extra bags and the reusable containers on my registry - Nursing tops - We reused bottles, but I bought new nipples - Another camera to pair with our baby monitor - A second seat for our stroller (we have a City Select, which can be converted to a two seater) - A new bottle brush - Formula - Diaper genie refill or whatever trash bags you used for diapers - Aquaphor/Butt Paste/Destin/Saline Spray type stuff - Laundry hamper - Boppy newborn lounger since we couldn't use our Rock n Play anymore - Infill for any clothing you're light on, especially if your babies are born in different seasons. (Mine were both summer babies, but DS has grown a lot faster!) Most places let you use your discount twice, so I use it once before baby is born to get things set up, and then again a few months after to fill in things we missed. |
OP here - to be clear, I'm just making this private for myself to get the registry discount! The q is really what stuff do you need for second baby. Thanks! |
| We have friends who are having their second, another boy two years apart and they are having a virtual shower and have two registries. I’ve so far ignored the invite. |
Not what op was asking. She was asking what the second baby needs |
|
Is it for yourself/the discount?
I did a registry for my third for the discount AND because my mother in law asked for a list. I didn’t have a shower or share it though!! |

I do not think it is tacky at all. Even if you made it public. I have actually appreciated it when friends have done this for second babies because I usually want to get a welcome gift for the baby and the registry will give me a sense of what they need or if they have a nursery theme or something. I wouldn't expect anyone to buy any big stuff from it, but I don't think it's tacky.
But I think people are unnecessarily weird about registries. It's just a list of things you might need. I don't think anyone should ever feel obligated to buy anything from a registry, since sometimes people can't afford things and there are other ways to support people. But in case someone does want to buy something, registries are a useful way to make sure they know what would be welcome, regardless of whether you already have a kid. And yes, I also assume that people who make registries for second children are often just trying to get the discount, in which case high five, that's what I'd do too. |

-2nd camera or parent unit for baby monitor
-double stroller (if your older is still in a stroller) -diapers, wipes, diaper cream/ointment -baby shampoo/wash, lotion -teethers, pacifiers, infant toothbrush, bottle nipples, baby spoons, anything else they put in their mouth -baby hair brush/comb -infant Tylenol, saline drops, gas drops -bibs, burp cloths, basic onesies, other clothing items that get gross/don’t want to use again -breastfeeding supplies (unless you can get insurance to cover them) nursing pads, breastmilk storage bags, nipple cream -postpartum supplies for you: (things like witch hazel pads or perineal ice packs hopefully you can get at hospital), comfortable clothes, gift cards for restaurants, frozen meals, things that may help YOU and DH after baby -maybe something personalized or special for the new baby like their own lovie or blanket |

More places to put baby down - play mats, bouncer, qplay yard. With a second you are outnumbered. You will need to put baby down to deal with potty / diapers. You will need to put baby down and keep it away from older one (if under 5) while you make lunch or get something from the cabinet or deal with a tantrum.
With baby 3, I needed to have something everywhere in case I needed a quick spot for safe baby keeping. You might want to register for different swaddles. One baby liked arms out the other didn't. Do the research now and put it in on the registry so you can easily order it at 2am.when you need it. |
