I can't stand people from Maryland

Anonymous
I’ve had it with Marylanders. They seem to act as if they own the city. Illegal parking, speeding through our neighborhoods during rush hours (HELLO there are kids in these neighborhoods), just generally being rude etc. I wish we could force just Marylanders to pay a commuter tax (even though I’m opposed to the idea of a commuter tax), or have them pay higher parking tolls. I’ve never had any problems with our neighbors to the South; if I can’t find something in DC I’m heading to VA, never MD.

I've had it with people from Minnesota. Always with the fakey-nice and funny Great Lakes accents. Stop wrecking my potlucks with your Hotdish!

Well, this pisses me off, too - there does seem to be a lack of respect by commuters that what they see as the quickest way to get to work is actually someone's home. Although Virginians can be equally guilty.

I hate the French. You know, thinking that their fries and toast are all that...

You are full of win.

Virginians are probably not cutting through your neighborhood because it's not on their way home. Just wait until you live in Virginia and they start cutting through. Happens everywhere.

A Marylander and proud of it

feel the same, everytime someone hunks at me (for not turning left or right in front of pedestrians or incoming traffic), or speeds past me, it's a driveer from MD. Can't stand them!!!!! I am not going to drive unsafely for you, so that you get home one minute earlier.

Folks on Capitol Hill hate Marylanders because about 90% of the MD drivers from east of the city drive like 15 year old boys on meth. Of course, folks in far NW have no problem with Marylanders, because 90% of the folks up there with Maryland plates are rich and drive 5 mph under the speed limit. They hate Virginians.

That's not to say I don't cheer every time some MD asshole who never learned any impulse control drives his pearlescent SUV over one of the speed humps in Lincoln Park doing about 35 mph. Hooray!

I don't hate Marylanders at all, but every time I almost get run over (as a DC pedestrian trying to legally cross the street) or as a driver (whether in DC/VA/MD) the driver usually has Md. plates...

op, i bet you live off of connecticut avenue. when i lived there, the commuters were so utterly dangerous and disrespectful that it was truly enraging (honking horns, turning aggressively into crosswalks etc).

We have those drivers in Va too. It's usually a Mercedes or a BMW.

I completely agree. Every time someone cuts me off or otherwise pisses me off when I'm driving, I don't even have to look to know they are driving a benz or a bmw. So arrogant. It doesn't matter if it's DC, VA or MD.

Btw, I would never move to VA. I think Virginians are usually uptight and take themselves way too seriously.
