I can't stand people from Maryland

Anonymous
I hate people from DC. They are always filling up our Costco on the weekends and not one of them knows how to park.

This is actually a pretty common misconception. Actually, the problem is that we can't park between the lines in those massive surface lots. (That's why we eschew those massive SUVs regardless of what we say about the environment.)

We can parallel park just fine. (For the suburbanites who might follow this list: "parallel parking" is where you park your car with it's wheels next to the curb.)

Consider it payback for all the Marylanders who clog up our streets on Sundays, double-parking around the churches.

FYI the Costo remark was tongue-in-cheek. Gosh you people are so serious.

So I must be roundly hated - I've lived in DC, Virginia, MD AND Minnesota. Oh and to top it all off I drive a BMW. Seriously.

Do you send your kids to private school and/or have a nanny? Do you spank? Do you ask people how much stuff cost or where they got it? These are all important considerations when condemning someone to the lower circles of hell.

Yes to private school but mercifully no on the rest. So maybe there is hope for me after all?

Try driving in Southern California...you will have new appreciation for MD drivers...or whichever state you don't like.

I can't stand people from Virginia because they drive like they are 85 and blind!

Love, a happy Merrylander!

Illegal parking, speeding through our neighborhoods during rush hours (HELLO there are kids in these neighborhoods), just generally being rude etc. I wish we could force just Marylanders to pay a commuter tax (even though I’m opposed to the idea of a commuter tax), or have them pay higher parking tolls. I’ve never had any problems with our neighbors to the South; if I can’t find something in DC I’m heading to VA, never MD.

Happy hunting, OP!

Although Maryland is for crabs, we're not crabby.

Don't you know that we are desperately trying to hit you? Sadly, we must drive too slowly or our aim is too poor because here you are on DCUM complaining that we keep missing you. We've recently changed our DC scoring system; for each civilian adult we nail we get two beers (used to be only 1), but for a politician (D or R), it's a kegger at O' Malley's!

P,

How do you feel about people who live in Maryland but are not from Maryland?

- posers.

ITA, OP. They drive like assholes. This is from someone who has seen bad driving all their lives. I never believed it until I saw it myself.

Why wont the cops sit around Lincoln Park at rush hour especially during the warm days? It's actually very unsafe for all the families that take their kids there to have cars flying around at 40mph on their way back to MD. It's also unfair to us the DC taxpayer. I'm a civil liberties person but I'm actually hoping they put up speed cameras like they have on Reservoir Rd.

Now we have a cat posting on DCUM?!
