Do you buy a new jacket each winter and a new swimsuit each summer?

How many people do both or one of the two?

I don’t even have a need sometimes and still feel like I neeed to buy atleast one new jacket and swimsuit. There’s times when I never get to a pool some years.

No. I don't need a new swimsuit and coat every year.

No, I don't buy a new coat each year. I'd have way too many coats if I did that.

I usually buy a new swimsuit every summer or at least every other summer, but we have a place at the beach so my swimsuits get a lot of use plus salt and sun.

I do buy my kids a new swimsuit each year, because they grow so theirs fit for 2-3 years and they need a few that fit.

Nope. Coat lasts for years. Bathing suits I usually have maybe two at a time so they end up pilling or stretching after a couple of years so I buy as needed.

Nope. Probably not even every five years.

No, what a ridiculous waste.

If you're buying disposable clothes, you're doing clothing wrong.

I don’t buy a new coat yearly, but bathing suits I buy new every season. They just don’t hold up well or get faded quickly.

No. 2-3 years for a coat. 2 for swimsuit.

No. But i need a mew coat since my last was my post pregnancy coat and im a different weight now. I usually get a new swimsuit every 2 years to add to the pile.

Same. Though I’ve packed on some Covid pounds and may need new swimsuits this summer, ugh. But absent that, I just keep using what I have.

I love that this thread is showing up right above the thread asking if people even know how privileged they are.

I can't imagine being so wasteful as to buy new every year.

No. I wear the same coats/jackets for several years. Same for swimwear.

I wear the same coats for several years but I do buy at least one swimsuit yearly. I have about 4 swimsuits, some carry over but at least one will need replacement each year.

Op here. I’ve always donated out. I live in a building that has a internal marketplace where neighbors pickup items other neighbors no longer need or want. I have one jacket for winter and one rain coat. I spend about $40-60 for a jacket in the fall of the year prior. Swimwear wise I have one swim suit each summer even if I don’t go to a pool I keep one handy. The years prior I still have this year so I will have two.

Absolutely not. I've had coats and swimsuits I've bought that only lasted a season, either because of bad quality or because I just plain didn't like them by the end, but that's pretty rare.

I'd say since becoming a full grown adult, I like to have two bathing suits at all times, plus a one piece for lap swimming, and generally each one has lasted an average of 5 years? So I'm buying one every year or two. I only like to have one winter coat, and those also last probably an average of 5 years, so that's a very rare purchase for me.
