DC Public and Public Charter Schools
| What happens to schools (in any/every) ward if families leave DCPS if schools do not open in the fall? |
| Please tell me how this will play out? |
| To where? MoCo is a hot mess too. Charters are not significantly more open, not yet anyway, and some are way less open than DCPS. |
| lol dream on |
| Virginia will open! |
What do you mean what will happen? Nothing. The schools with waitlists will just call people off the waitlist until it either clears or the class is full. Do you think 100% of the children will just disappear? |
| Rage fantasy |
| Bye! Oh wait, you aren't going anywhere. Please stop having public temper tantrums. It makes you look a fool. |
| I will leave. If I can still telework. There’s no way I’m doing this another school year if I can avoid it. My husband wants to stay but he may give by fall too. |
| Private school decisions are Friday. |
+1000 This is exhausting. Yes, the pandemic. But also your predictable complaints. Find a hobby, you old Gen Z parent. |
Where will you go?? If you can't telework you can't just move to another district or state. Not many of the school in the DMV are open full time, privates have more applications that they could imagine. We would need to leave and find new jobs.... Or deal with it again |
| Schools are open everywhere my family lives. We are outliers. If I can’t telework it will certainly be harder to move. But my job will let me telework as long as schools are closed. |
|
You are allowed to telework because of a pandemic.
Again please post your house listings? |

I've been asking this question too but no one seems to have answers. At what rate have children withdrawn from public schools? Will those numbers be made public?
Will schools be forced to reduce staff if enrollment is down? I know of numerous families who have withdrawn to homeschool their elementary aged kids or moved them to private. Curious to see where the chips fall. |
