This quote from from ASIST thread. If you play SYC in a tournament update the score here and we’ll discuss why they did or didn’t do well. |
| They're playing low level teams and getting a boost big deal |
Thank you—but this thread will also be for all tournaments. |
| Is this really a thing? Outside of U9/U10, which are kind of a crapshoot anyway, I don’t see them performing particular beyond expectations. |
|
I went and pulled up State Cup tournament scores.
- the 2006 boys blue lost to Arlington 6-1 - the 2005 boys blue lost to Arlington 4-0 - the 2004 boys blue lost to Rush 3-0 - the 2003 boys blue won it. |
This is really a thing. Feel free to humble them and congratulate them. |
|
For girls State Cup:
- the 2006 girls blue lost 4-0 Beach FC - the 2005 girls blue lost 6-0 to FCV - the 2005 girls blue lost 1-0 to Arlington - SYC doesn’t field a 2003 girls team - SYC decided not to field a team for 2002/2003 |

The margins of victory when they have won at ASIST seem like a carryover from the Jeff Cup “message” they were trying to send: you done mis-seeded us so we’ll show you.
I’m curious on the blowouts we’re the coaches yelling and purposely trying to run up the scores like JC. |
Girls isn’t until next weekend. Thread began in context of boys results. |
And we’ll update scores for girls as well. Why stop with ASIST? We’ll also check out Jefferson Cup, CCL Showcases, and other events I think that’s what the poster wanted |
And rumor is they applied for their highest girls’ teams to play in GA. They played one GA team and lost 6-0. |
| The marketing campaign has been successful. That is why there is a lot of hype. Seeing them in person, not as impressive. |
Hard to say you’re wrong |
| Saw their top u11 team at ASIST. Pretty talented team that played cohesively. Not dominant but they are good. Not worthy of super hype but also not deserving of any scorn. I wouldn’t be surprised if they win the top bracket of that age group. |
I agree. Looks like their little kids win a lot and good on them for getting results. |
