Diet and eating

Anonymous
Hi all-- my doctor suggested to make some lifestyle changes before my cycle which includes healthy eating? For those of you who had a successful cycle, what diet do you recommend? Is there a meal plan I can google? I am not overweight per say, but I need to lose a couple pounds and cut my habit of sweets and junk food, especially chips which are my biggest weakness.

What is considered a successful cycle? Are you talking about getting your period and not having premenstrual symptoms like bloating, cramps, headaches, mood swings, etc.? A healthy diet is eating no simple carbohydrates, low salt, low sugar, complex carbs, low fat protein.

This is not a healthy diet. The need to cut sodium is a myth that's been debunked. Additionally, fat is healthy and good for you. Full fat dairy, nut butters, avocados, fatty fish etc are all great for you.

OP can you see a virtual nutritionist? A lot of insurance plans cover it.

Sharara is big into this and has an infertility diet app to guide you.

Try the Mediterranean Diet. It’s the best I’ve found that balances healthy and well balanced with easily Google-able.

I was asked to be off dairy as it causes inflammation in the body and I was also off glutten which wasn't easy. I lost30 pounds and got pregnant. Best of luck.

I googled fertility meal plans and it was helpful. so many different resources and tips.

Lots of vegetables high in folate with each meal.
Cruciforous veggies like broccoli and brussels
Lean meats, salmon. Foods high in antioxidants. I even had my partner eat walnuts and berries as it helps sperm health.
Eggs in the morning,
sweet potatoes
low sugar, low carb, gluten free,
light exersize, but still excersizing (dont over do it, but certainly do not do nothing)
Smoothies with ginger and coconut oil, kale, spinach, berries, protein powder
shrimp and seafood
saurkraut and greek yogurt for good gut bacteria

Food pariing is importnat - dont just eat carbs alone that will spoke blood sugar - for example. pair some crackers with cheese, or apples with cheese. Hard boiled eggs - other high energy snacks
Get good sleep

I did all this for a couple months leading up, while taking my vitamns and coq10
